Urban Gorilla presents Leftroom records First Birthday

Advance Tickets £6 available from Ticketweb, Jack's Records & Forever Changes

After the massive raving action of last weekend, where James Zabiela, Rolando and The Nextmen provided the Fusion and Foundry with one of the best nights the venue has yet seen, this week we’re returning to our new underground Saturday night home of UNIQ, and filling our second night out there with a special birthday event for one of the hottest record labels in the UK right now.

Starting in 2005, Leftroom records was one of the first UK labels to dedicate itself to showcasing the off centre house and minimal techno sounds that have become such sensations in clubland of late. But these are no mere bandwagon jumpers – label founder Matt Tolfrey has been pushing his take on the sound relentlessly from his beginnings as a resident at Stealth and The Bomb, through regular appearances at some of the world’s top nightclubs (including a cheeky little turn at Urban Gorilla’s 4th Birthday) and outstanding productions with musical partner Craig Sylvester, both for Leftroom and Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels imprint.

Tolfrey will be joined by his label’s hottest property of the moment Marc Ashken, a man with an incredible knack of producing deep, dirty and funked up tunes that have been catching the ears of many of the prime movers and shakers of the scene. Originally establishing himself as a DJ, before his productions began to really make his name, he also runs his own night under the name of lather_rinse_repeat and looks set to treat us to a lesson in the art of dark, stripped-down techno funk.

With Adam Connal again on hand to mop up the broken bits of raver left in Tolfrey and Ashken’s wake, this looks set to be an incredible night of deep, cutting edge underground music from some of the most exciting figures in the British scene.
