Wednesday 25th - Sunday 29th July Fordhall Farm in Market Drayton, Shropshire.

Hello and welcome to PLAY Festival 2007. We had a wonderful 5 days last year and can only say that 2007 will be even better!

Thanks to everyone who came last year and who gave us feedback on what they thought of the festival, we've taken all comments on board and hope we can make a festival that you'll enjoy even more!

The dates for this years festival will be Wednesday 25th - Sunday 29th July and we will be at the same venue, Fordhall Farm in Market Drayton, Shropshire. The tickets will be £35 and that will include most workshops, 4 nights camping, the shows and other entertainments during the festival.

We have lots planned for this years festival, more areas to play in with the emphasis on getting everyone involved!
We'll have two stages this year, the main stage and and nice little caberet stage, along with solar powered cinema, a PROPER bar & food tent and more folks selling the stuff you want to buy (even if you don't realise it yet! heheh)

New for this year will be the PLAY HOP Amateur Performance of the year. It's a little competition we've come up with that can be entered by anyone for any type of performance, no more than 4 minutes long, with a cash prize for the winner and of course feature on the next PLAY DVD.

FUN & GAMES

The thing that makes PLAY Festival so great is our sense of community, friendship and entertainment. This is why we have lots of great things to do that will help you all break the ice and forge new friendships, friendships we hope will last long after we’ve said goodbye on the 26th. We have lots of games with prizes planned too, but I’ll not give any details away here!! You’ll have to be there to see.

Sensory Solutions (Karen and Fiona):

Sensory Solutions offer something extra special, combining theatre with herbal medicine and education. They use a theatre space (a lovely marquee) to bring herbal potions and lotions to the masses. People are invited in by one of their fantastic characters (sexy senoritas, blue cleaners, wholesome herbalists, and a whole host of others) to drink a spot of herbal tea from their fine bone china in decedent surroundings.

Pixie Pictures Solar Powered Cinema

Pixie Pictures Project will be bringing their solar and wind powered cinema to PLAY!

A large colourful geodesic dome with the latest digital cinema equipment with 5:1 surround sound, professional rear projection screen and film programmes tailored to your requirements!!
They will be showing independant productions, alternative news, art films, retro and classic films, kids films and productions made by Pixie Pictures and other community groups. And of course they will be showing the PLAY DVD over the weekend.

Guiness World Record!

That’s right, we’re setting a Guiness World Record at PLAY Festival!

We will be trying to set a new record for the biggest choreographed fire spin EVER!! We’ll be giving workshops over the weekend for everyone to learn a basic routine, if you want to be part of the record it doesn’t matter what prop you want to use we can fit it in to the routine without a problem, so long as it burns it’s good to go Smiling

The record will be recorded by a professional film crew and will be released on next years DVD. If the record attempt is a success it should be in the 2007 edition of the Guiness Book.

FIRE SHOW

Carpe Ignem:
A performance troupe who perform as tightly as you’ll ever see. Amazing performance with fire ropes, staff and poi.

TePooka:
The well established Edinburgh performance company, as you’ve never seen them before!

Chimaera Circus::
Chimera has taken a fresh new approach to the art of fire performance. Their signature 20 minute fully choreographed fire show takes its influence from avant-garde based physical theatre, fireworks displays, martial arts, dance and capoeira.
Follow them on a mesmerising journey through a mystical world complete with costumes, state of the art electronic props, lights, music and special effects.

Project Solar:
A dynamic and progressive group they strive to push fowards the area of fire performance. Blending fire with classic Street Theatre, elements of Musical Performance, Dance, Mime, Circus Skills, Adagio, Comedy and Audience Participation.
They will also be helping out with the comparing of the Renegade show on Sunday night.

INDOOR SHOW

MCP:
There’s little to be said about MCP, her inventiveness and ability to spin staff speaks for itself!!

Ministry of Manipulation:
What is manipulation? The art of making objects move; a synthesis of dance, juggling, martial arts & magic.
