The Tidy Boys and Planet Breaks Love child.....

Yes that’s right the Tidy Boys are returning to Invasion!

Recently crowned for there lifetime achievement at the Hard Dance awards they’re going to come and show Invasion why!! The Tidy boys have played for Invasion before and what an amazing night that was!

That night went down in Invasions history as one of the best! And this upcoming event is set to be even bigger!!

After the Tidy Boys we have the long awaited pairing of Invasion residents “Cheadle and Hubby” b2b with “JT & Mixin”.

Cheadle and Hubby have been around for about 6 years, they’ve played up and down the country as well as Ibiza, recently branching out to play house/electro as well as hard dance, there Record scratching! Butt Jiving! Record smashing! Sets always provide immense energy and entertainment! http://www.myspace.com/cheadleandhubby

JT & Mixin, 2 lads that used to come to Invasion when they were younger, used to come and see Cheadle and Hubby playing along side all the other Invasion residents most weeks, eventually they got into DJing and paired up after entering the Invasion DJ competition separately. Since then they’ve also seen play across the country and there careers are picking up speed with regular sets and a new release “bust this beat” coming out on toolbox records…

These 2 duos will be taking to the stage after the Tidy Boys, set to provide something special for the last 2 hours! The performances from both Duos’ separately are always of a high standard and entertaining, together they will be a force to be reckoned with! So buckle up and prepare for a pant wetting evening! This is gonna get Heavy!!

To take over the stage during the evening, we have “Naylor Live”, only his 2nd performance live! And there’s a lot of excitement surrounding it! Naylor is a well respected DJ amongst the techno scene; over years as a DJ he’s played across the country and had a regular spot at the legendry techno event “North!”

Producing is his main love these days via his alter ego “Nail Bomb” inevitably this has led him to his live performance…

Check out all about Naylor and here his tunes on his myspace http://www.myspace.com/naylor303

Two Kilos of Breaks is the bastard love child of the now legendary Planet of the Breaks and funky young upstarts 2 Kilos of Funk...

It seemed a natural thing to hook up, Matt, the head honcho of 2 Kilos of Funk had been a regular at Funk Boutique events in Oswestry, constantly arriving drunk and hassling Planet Breaks head honcho Sonny Woods to play Jurassic 5's classic Hip Hop track "Jayou". Over the years Matt regularly visited Planet Breaks and experienced some of the most exciting music he had heard.

It was the summer of 2000 when Sonny Woods came out of a much needed 4 year break from the DJ and Promoting world to start playing a sweaty little back room at a house night called Essence at the Buttermarket in Shrewsbury.

The Funk Boutique, as it was then called, adopted a very broad music policy (which Matt later tried to replicate at 2 Kilos of Funk), with Sonny and percussionist Barrie playing a diverse mix of funk, hip hop, reggae, soul, classic breaks, d&b, big beats, disco, deep house grooves and anything in-between.

The concept of an alternative back room at a house night was nothing new, but ere seemed to be a special unique vibe at the Funk Boutique. Word quickly spread though the shire about this atmosphere and soon clubbers were coming to the venue for the back room alone! As it only held about 100 people, things often became a squeeze, so after 9 great months Sonny moved the party to the Cellars, in the basement of the club. After 4 successful parties in the Cellars Sonny decided to take the night to a new professional level and "Planet of the Breaks" was born. The Re Launch party featured guests "The Scratch Perverts" and the rest is history... Events were regularly featured in DJ Mag and Jockey Slut's top 10 nights in the UK and was featured as Mixmag's Midland's club of the month.

Tired of not being able to play out around Shrewsbury Matt decided in 2005 he would launch 2 Kilos of Funk at the Salopian Bar. The first event started as a pre party for the Grandmaster Flash Planet Breaks event in October. Initially organised without even telling Sonny or the Planet Breaks crew! Over the next few weeks 2 Kilos held regular Sunday afternoon parties playing the old funk and hip hop Matt had grown to love in his days at the Funk Boutique.

A change of venue saw 2 Kilos move to the Vaults and grow in stature... the appointment of Mark Beesley (another former Planet Breaks party goer) as number 2 helped push the night on. Gradually Sonny became interested in this drunken funky party and agreed to play the odd set here or there.

Friendships were formed and in July 2006 the two promotions crews went out to Ibiza to support Invasion: Ibiza! This led to a tie in between Invasion and Planet Breaks that has seen some fantastic 3 floor events monthly at the Buttermarket. With Matt busy behind the scenes hosting the pre parties and helping push the events the 2 Kilos influence was always present.

After many late night discussion and chin stroking meetings, Matt and Sonny decided to pull together and make the Cellars one of the top urban "places to go" in the West Midlands once again.

2 Kilos of Breaks was born. A fresh start with an emphasis on good music and having a party..

What better way to start the new love affair than on the same night Invasion has the Tidy Boys! Upstairs… “2kilos of breaks” are hosting “Cut La Roc” and Dr Rubberfunk in the cellars…

"La Roc Rocks!"

Cut La Roc remembers the look on his mum's face when he bought his first Technics. She was horrified! 'You paid two hundred pounds for a record player?!' And that was before she found I needed two! Well, Mrs La Roc, rest easy. Your son did the right thing. As if there was a choice. La Roc - real name Lee Potter - was already hooked by then. He was 15. He'd already got into bunking off school in Brighton to doss around with the local b-boys, already began to memorise their breakdancing moves and intricate scratch tricks. Needless to say, the second Technics followed soon after. Lee immersed himself in the world of hip hop, scratching and editing his productions on cheap samplers and battling it out at local jams. Then something happened. Or rather, nothing very much happened at all. "All of a sudden, it must have been about 1987, and acid house came along..." And Lee was seduced all over again. Which all casts a little light on the mixed up musical mind of Cut La Roc. And why his debut album 'La Roc Rocs' for Skint hovers up everything from deft rap cut-ups to camped up jump-up jungle. Or Mills-esque techno pressure. And... Well, you get the picture. If anything, it's a testament to the three years Lee has spent almost consistently DJing in Australia, America, across Europe and the Far East. Still, it's in the UK where he's caused the most damage, the two early EPs in his 'Mad Skills' series stand alongside Fatboy Slim, Midfield General and Bentley Rhythm Ace's finest as the foundations the Skint Empire was built on. In 2000 he released a mix album for the Ministry Of Sound's FSUK imprint and set his first world record for DJing with 8 decks! His sets continued to be revelatory affairs too, Lee either turning on the showmanship by scratching with all manner of limbs or slapping down a wall-to-wall selection of party-stoking anthems. Crowd-thrilling scratch tricks and a unique DJing technique remain Cut La Roc's speciality when he's playing out and his DJ sets combine the best of old and new hip hop. No stranger to the big time, Cut had already appeared on Top Of the Pops as the late Wildchild's DJ on the top ten hit 'Renegade Master'. His critically claimed first album for Skint 'La Roc Rocs' was released in July 2000 featuring the hits 'Freeze', 'Fallen' and 'Makin' It Hot'. Among the legions of seamless fader-flippers who inhabit clubland, he sticks out as entertainer and vinyl connoisseur alike - a reputation that he is upholding even today. For more info check out www.rocstar.co.uk .  His new album hits the stores May 7th, check it out.

“The Doctor will see you now…”

Having been DJing since the early 90's, and releasing music since 2001, Dr Rubberfunk’s long player ‘The First Cut’ finally dropped in early 2004. It was an instant hit with DJs and reviewers worldwide, winning critical acclaim from Time Out, The Sunday Telegraph, IDJ, Straight No Chaser, Mixmag, Update and Future Music. Over its 12 tracks Rubberfunk fused jazz, blues, soul, hip-hop and Latin flavours into a veritable smorgasbord of aural delights.  In the clubs it proved irresistible to the likes of Norman Jay, Mr.Scruff, Strictly Kev, Quantic, Scott Hendy & Andy Smith, Groove Armada, Pete Herbert, Jon Kennedy and Bonobo.

As the LP whipped up a media-frenzy soon everyone wanted a piece of the action. After being interviewed on the station the producers at BBC 6 Music were so enamoured with the good Doctor that they gave him his own weekly mix slot, which continued throughout 2004 and 2005. More DJ excursions across the UK and Europe followed, including a well-received set at Glastonbury 2004. The Doctor also found time to complete a number of remixes and reworks for artists such as The Fort Knox Five, Spooky Monkey, Malente, Mauracher and Skalpel.  His live band Mr Güder also made select live appearances throughout 2004 including storming sets at Jelly Jazz in Plymouth and London’s famous Jazz Café.

2005 saw Dr Rubberfunk back in the studio to work on his ‘difficult second album’ but still finding time to remix the Stereo MCs, Dutch Rhythm Combo and Bobby Hebb, and jet set across the pond to DJ stateside, showcasing his wares at clubs in New York. Back in the UK he played a much talked about set at The Big Chill festival.

Following DJ sets at Bestival, Bloom, and the ABC Minichill festivals during the summer of 2006, and live sets supporting both Nicole Willis and Bonobo, Rubberfunk was contacted by The Rock Steady Crew and asked to produce an exclusive mixtape for a forthcoming international B-Boy Battle taking place in the UK in April 2007.

October 2006 saw the release in the UK of the long anticipated second Dr Rubberfunk LP – ‘My Life at 33’. Lauded and loved by such publications as Metro, iDJ, Straight No Chaser, XLR8R, Fact Magazine and One Week To Live, along with DJs as diverse as Smith & Mighty, Yam Who and Laurent Garnier, the diagnosis for Dr Rubberfunk and his Funkydown empire is certainly looking good for 2007!
