Who are Defected?
From a small office in Soho, Defected Records has become a key player attracting some of the greatest talents working in the industry, regularly trumping the majors with crossover hits and media attention, and never far from the boxes of the worlds best DJs.
In six short years, the independent label has gone some way to achieving label boss Simon Dunmores vision of an imprint worthy to stand aside the labels that inspired him, from Motown and Philly to Strictly Rhythm and Salsoul.
Even from its first releases Defected considered its heritage to be of the utmost importance. It proudly exclaims that the labels core philosophy takes inspiration from soul, disco and house, regularly drawing from the past in order to create its future records.
Defected have notched up countless hit singles including All I Do by Cleptomaniacs, Most Precious Love by Barbara Tucker and together with numerous other singles and hugely selling albums have made them one of the best known independent labels worldwide. Defected’s vision in creating and nuturing talent is second to none, signing future classics such as Fish Go Deep’s The Cure and the Cause and the brand new album by Dennis Ferrer which has been met with critical acclaim.
Defected Tours take in Hong Kong, Dubai, New York and Barcelona and residencies include Ibiza Pacha Wednesdays throughout the Summer Season and now Junk plays host to one of the longest and most successful House Music brands in the world!
