Music : Funky House and Electro House

Oliver Lang has seen his hard work at the coal face of club culture pay off in 2008, as the tours coming in match the toil exerted over the years. Tours of Brazil, of Australia, of Asia… Oliver is indeed taking his place amongst the key names on the global DJ circuit. Managed by Dusted, his diary bulges with sets at the main clubs on any DJ’s calendar, including Turnmills, Junk Club, Déjà Vu and the latest edition to Manchester’s clubbing portfolio, Area 51.

However, in the noughties spinning records is not enough to fill a DJ’s disco CV, and that is something Oliver fully appreciates. Oliver’s discography already features such highlights as the massive Space terrace anthem Dancing Girls on Toolroom, as well as other original material for Umm, Ministry, Lowered and Big Love, alongside remixing such luminaries as Jamiroquai for SONY. As opposed to some DJs who are happy to make the tea while an engineer works his magic in the studio, Oliver is a fully-trained studio wizard whiz-kid who wants an “Oliver Lang release” to be a pure exposition of where he’s at, musically. Filling up space in the boxes of DJs from Judge Jules to Erick Morillo, Oliver is as respected for the work he does in the studio as his work behind the decks.

Emerging from his self-imposed studio exile, he now has ten fresh tracks ready to roll out, with major labels already snapping up tracks for release this year. Oliver has also set up his own label, DoJo, which will feature certain tracks of his own, as well as those from artists he respects.

And he’s going to need all the material he can get, with the amount of work coming up. Fresh back from a tour of Australia, Oliver has gigs a go go through May, and that’s all before we turn our thoughts to a certain island in the Mediterranean, where Oliver has a home, and where his heart will soon return, to Bora Bora and the beach at Playa d’en Bossa…
