DJ Rebekah Biography:
Rebekah’s love affair with electronic music began at the tender age of 17, going out and listening to legends such as
Dave Clarke , Derrick Carter, Richie Hawtin and Billy Nasty at Birmingham’s legendary Que Club. This gave Rebekah her first taste into the world of deep house and techno.
In the six years that she has been Djing professionally, Rebekah has toured every inch of the globe, performing at some of the most exclusive parties and rocking clubs in the world. On her travels she has DJed in countries such as
South Africa, Australia, Central America, Brazil, Italy, Russia, Dubai, Hong Kong and Thailand. She was featured on
MTV for a party at
Jianpula, Malta which was broadcasted to the whole of Europe! She is also no stranger to house music haven Ibiza where
she has played on the terrace at Space as well as at El Divino.
Being on the circuit over the last few year’s means that Rebekah has played at some of the coolest nights and venues in the UK. These include regular performances at clubs such as
Sankeys in Manchester and Turnmills in London as well as having Shindig, The Egg, the Cross, the Key, Canvas and the Honey Club performances under her belt. At these established venues, she has Djed alongside
Paul Woolford, Jo Mills, James Talk, Smokin Jo, Trevor Rockliffe and Jon Carter to name but a few.
She kicked off 2007 in style with a months
residency in Shanghai at Absolute House where she played 4 nights a week, warming up for luminaries such as James Lavelle amongst many other established acts. Rebekah’s current UK commitments include a
residency at popular underground venue;
The Custard Factory in Birmingham where she has already played alongside world class acts such as Eric Prydz, Switch, Lottie and Tania Vulcano amongst many others.
Rebekah has also become a regular at some of the worlds most recognised and established festivals! Donning her welly’s, Rebekah has performed in front of massive audiences at UK festivals such as Escape into the Park and Wakestock. Further a field, she was asked to guest at
Serbia’s Exit festival in 2006. In the summer of 2007 Rebekah played at the worlds largest dance festival;
Global Gathering in Stratford Upon Avon and has also returned to the Exit Festival in Serbia for a second consecutive year playing alongside Martin Landsky and Argy
One million listeners tuned in to hear one of Rebekah’s biggest achievements to date, a Radio 1 interview by the notorious Fergie. After he played her tech house and tribal techno mix it was no surprise when Notion magazine approached Rebekah to do a three page spread on her as one of the UK’S hottest up and coming DJ’s. The press interest doesn’t stop there, M8 had their eye on Rebekah giving her a front cover and interview, pinning her down as a key breakthrough DJ.
In the past few years more focus has been applied to the studio side of things working closely with established producers and fellow DJ’s Simon Baker, Deepgroove and Leaim Sullivan. Her first release
“Toad in a Hole” came out in April 2007 on German label Criminal Records and has had
growing support from the likes of
Steve Lawler, Gabriel Ananda, Monoroom and Oliver Klein. Over the summer this track became one of Ibiza’s underground anthems finding its way onto Amnesia’s Underground 7 compilation which is a huge achievement for Rebekah especially for a first release.
January 2008 will see the release of a second EP on Criminal Records. Already gaining support from Funk d Void, Mark Knight, Yousef, Greg Vickers and Mistress de Funk who played Neo on her Radio 1 show. Loving the release so much a second airplay of the second track Freakonomics will be going out for her Xmas special.
Rebekah’s first remix is also due out in January 2008 on Toolroom Records
With production now firmly under her belt as well as technical DJing flair, its no surprise this 26 year old is kicking up a storm for the new generation of clubbers.
