Music : All Music

The Access Festival, supported by Southampton City Council, is now in its fourth year - the event has grown from a relatively quiet affair at Palmerston Park Bandstand back in August 2004 to one of the biggest, free, music events in the area.

This year the Access Festival will take place in Mayflower Park on Saturday 16th June between midday and 9pm. Mayflower Park, the home of the Southampton Boat Show is situated on the Waterfront with excellent views across Southampton Water. If you are using Sat Nav, the post code for this area is SO14 2AQ

This year’s festival is set to be the biggest and best yet with a minimum of four stages:-

The Main Stage playing a bit of everything – Rock, Indie, Punk, Funk and Metal.

The Acoustic Tent with some more chilled out vibes – Acoustic, Indie, Jazz, Folk and Country.

The Dance Tent with DJs and live acts playing everything from Electro, Hip Hop, trance, psy, hard house, breaks plus more

The Arts Tent with an exciting mix of art, sculptures, installations, workshops, spoken word, slam poetry and a hint of jazz

Access Festival and the Society of St James, this year launched their official festival partnership. The organisations have decided to work closely together, in the knowledge that by joining forces they have greater strength to work towards their twin goals of combating homelessness and exclusion and providing a stage for the wealth of unsigned musical talent that Southampton has to offer.

The Access Festival is entirely run and staffed by volunteers and entirely paid for by the fundraising efforts of the team.

The Access Festival team run fundraising gigs across the city on a regular basis at the Soul Cellar every Sunday, Hamptons every other Tuesday and the Hobbit monthly.
