JUDGE JULES INTERVIEW AHEAD OF GOODGREEF MEETS JUDGMENT SUNDAYS @ CLUB TALL TREES - 03/05/09

GOODGREEF, the UK’s finest exponent of harder beats and fresh new talent is teaming up with Ibiza giant JUDGEMENT SUNDAYS for a special Ibiza pre-party on May 3rd at Tall Trees in Yarm.

Tall Trees, the country’s biggest and best venue, will see the world’s finest DJs pass through it’s doors on the first May Bank Holiday weekend. In the main room is Radio 1 DJ legend Judge Jules who spends the summer at the helm of San Antonio’s busiest night, Judgement Sundays, and Lisa Lashes, the first lady of bosh (and Judgement Sundays resident) who is always at the top of her game.

The monster line up continues with two of the trance scene’s most innovative DJ/producers, with a rare appearance from Japanese superstar and tech-dance pioneer Yoji, and hot property of trance Simon Patterson. But that’s not all – the main room is topped off by the appearance of trance sensations Aly and Fila and newly announced Goodgreef resident Jordan Suckley, a young whippersnapper whose three decks live mash ups of techno, tech-trance and hard trance all topped off with scratching, looping and other FX has to be seen to be believed.

In room two is the house party, featuring the superb talents of Martin Grant, Paul Calvy b2b with Toddy, Paul Flintoff, Casa Mia and Jay Dee.
If that wasn’t enough to make the night go with a bang, there’ll be the chance to win an exclusive weekend for two people to Ibiza and Judgement Sundays. The winners will receive full VIP treatment at the club and will even sit down for dinner with the Judge and the other DJs! Keep your eyes peeled for the Golden Ticket in Tall Trees on the night…

We interviewed 'The Judge' to find out just why he chose Goodgreef and Tall Trees to host the Official Ibiza Warm Up Party For Judgement Sundays:

You are set to headline Goodgreef meets Judgement Sundays on Bank Holiday Sunday 3rd of May at Club Tall Trees; do you enjoy being involved with the Goodgreef brand compared to other UK dance brands?

Goodgreef seems to have such a great energy about it, and has been instrumental in bringing forward new talent in recent years, so I feel it’s the perfect partner for Judgement Sundays - which always endeavours to do the same.

You have played some of the best venues in the world, why choose Tall Trees as one of the official Ibiza warm up parties for your dance brand Judgement Sundays?

Tall Trees is a fantastic UK venue on the larger side of things, and the main room, when it is fully going off, has that Ibiza vibe which it would be impossible to capture in many other venues.

Can you tell us who your favourites DJs & Producers are at the moment?

This is a particularly difficult question at the moment. The standard of current productions is very high, which is great. I really like what Will Atkinson and Will Bailey have been doing recently.

If you could sum your DJ career up in one word what would it be?

Privileged.

Summer is approaching and the Ibiza season is near, what are you plans and activities for the white island this year and in general around this period?

I’ve been on a lot of long-haul tours over the winter, and as the summer approaches, they tail off and the Mediterranean short hops begin. Of course Judgement Sundays in Ibiza opens on June 7th, it’s our tenth anniversary, and we’ll be arranging a few surprises along the way, like our White Party in August.

The Judge won’t Budge is what we in the UK know you for, but what are your feelings on young blood DJs like Jordan Suckley breaking into this industry?

I feel very privileged to still have a full DJing diary after 20 years in the business, but I’m always very happy to see new talent progressing, and support it in any way I can, either through my shows, or booking them at Judgement Sundays events.

After constant touring, long and late hour’s week in week out for many years, what is the secret to you looking so fresh and not a day older than what you looked 15 years ago when first breaking into the scene?

Well that’s very flattering, thanks! I think, if anything, it’s actually down to enjoying what I do. Despite all the travelling and late nights, music always excites me and I still can’t think of a place I’d rather be than behind the decks.
