Global Gathering 2006

This article is about Global Gathering 2006 @ Long Marston Airfield in Stratford-upon-Avon (UK), Sat 29 Jul 2006

Global Gathering is the undisputed king of dance & music festivals. Last year’s event made dance music history by selling out with record-breaking numbers. This year, 45,000 people will rock their socks off at the world’s biggest ever alfresco disco. Global Gathering 2006 takes place over two nights on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th July and will offer camping facilities for all weekend guests after the success of last years event.

A scorching line up of the world’s biggest DJs and immense live talent will ensure guests enjoy a once in a lifetime festival experience. Live headliners for the weekend include Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada and an exclusive UK appearance from Daft Punk.

Fatboy Slim will be delivering one of his mind-blowing 3-D visual show DJ sets seen at Glastonbury last year and two sell out nights at the Brixton Academy.

Daft Punk are performing the festival with their first live UK show in over nine years and one of only eight worldwide shows in 2006.

Groove Armada will be bussing in their full band for an always-memorable festival show from the beach stage.

The star-studded two day DJ line up reads like an intergalactic who’s who:
Tiesto, Sasha, Deep Dish, Erick Morillo, Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren, Pete Tong, John Digweed, Steve Lawler, Jeff Mills, Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Lisa Lashes, Roni Size, Eric Prydz and Plump DJs. With these DJ demi-gods at the helms of each arena, it’s a sure-fire recipe for hedonistic meltdown, euphoria and sheer, unadulterated fun.

Global Gathering is renowned for its state-of-the-art arenas and highly sophisticated production values. The crowds love the ‘Beach Stage’ which sees a giant outdoor stage and screen erected in front of an island of sand, deck chairs and palm trees. The Godskitchen arena is the biggest marquee tent in Europe and houses 12,000 people under its canopied roof which doubles as an impressive backdrop to its laser displays. During the two-day event the arenas will feature the entire cross spectrum of dance music from progressive house, techno, drum and bass, trance, all styles of house and breaks.

It’s not just the gob-smacking line ups that make Global Gathering a record breaker: it’s the desire to blow away all expectations and lay on a dazzling event that’s loaded with extracurricular activities to do and see including:

• The Urban Village with Hip-Hop DJs, Skate Ramps, BMX Riders, Break Dancers and Graffiti Artists.
• The Adrenalin Village with bungee jumps, reverse bungee jumps, free fall simulators and various other extreme rides.
• An entire fairground with water rides and roller coasters.
• Late night lap dancing club.
• Camp sites offering additional activities including shops and entertainment in the form of cinemas and fairground rides.
• Strongbow Ciderhouse also returns to GG featuring a eclectic mix of electronic music.

One of the ultimate signs of festival success is the endorsement from the performers. DJs trip over themselves to pour plaudits on last year’s Global Gathering event:

Erick Morillo one of the US finest house DJ’s says:
‘It was the best festival set I've ever played. The crowd was amazing - they were literally hanging from the scaffolding!!!'

Radio 1’s Judge Jules says:
‘Without question Global Gathering has been the biggest festival success story of the past five years’

Global Gathering not only has the support from the UK’s club and music community but has a vast international following, with no less than 2000 people flying in especially for the event. And its not just music fans, the local authorities are fully behind the event and the council and police have already granted the license in an almost unprecedented up front move. With the green light from the powers that be, Global Gathering are ready to motor on, full steam ahead to the biggest dance music weekend of the year.

Global is your passport to the world of awe inspiring music, beautiful, shiny, happy people and the biggest party of your entire life. It is a rite of passage for every party enthusiast looking for a once in a lifetime musical experience where they can meet like-minded people from the whole world. The count down starts now!

The festival site is located in the beautiful green fields of Warwickshire at the old Long Marston Airfields which is easily accessed from the M40.

Once again, Radio 1 will be exclusive radio partners of Global Gathering and will broadcast live with Pete Tong's Essential Selection on Friday and Judge Jules on Saturday. Also, The Essential Mix will be extended to four hours and broadcast live on the Saturday evening through until 5am on the Sunday.

This year Hed Kandi will be hosting the VIP arena on both Friday and Saturday. The VIP arena will be, as ever, highly visually stimulating with this year’s theme based on 3D visual projections. The décor will be luxurious, offering plenty of space to sit and chill, dance, even eat a meal – this year there will be a sit-down restaurant offering excellent food. A viewing platform over the main beach stage means that you can stay firmly in the VIP area but be close to the action as it happens. Many further additions are still to be announced.

Tickets are available now on the 24 hour hotline: 0871 789 1010
and through www.globalgathering.co.uk.

Several different ticket options are available:
Weekend with free camping: £105
VIP Weekend with free camping: £155

It's not too bad mate, wrap 'em up good and spray 'em and then squash 'em between ur cheeks and u should be ok! uncomfortable as fuck for a bit but necessary! last year i got in ok but the dog stopped by my mate, the copper took him aside and told him the procedure was if he admits it and hands them over, and then after a search he's satisfied that he's handed over the lot, then you can go in, but if you deny it and he finds the little fellas stashed away or if u only give over half and he finds more on you that ur trying to sneak in, he'll start by ripping up your ticket and then depending on what youve got start the legal action rolling! so hand them all over straight away if the dam pooches get you!
