GLOBAL GATHERING 2007 – ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER SELL OUT!
Friday 27th & Saturday 28th July, Long Marston Airfield

Global Gathering was a rip-roaring success, attracting greater numbers than ever before. A record-breaking 55,000 people congregated at the Long Marston Airfield, despite the weather, proving the British spirit can’t be dampened by rain and mud! The atmosphere across the site was utterly electric and better than ever. Ticket holders let their hair down en masse, determined to enjoy themselves after weeks of bad weather.

Friday night saw Maxi Jazz, the front man of Faithless fly in by helicopter just fifteen minutes before running onto the main stage for an impressive live performance. Saturday’s headliners Basement Jaxx brought the spirit of Brixton to Stratford-on-Avon for a show throbbing with urban beats and powerful diva’s. Calvin Harris took to the stage of the Modular Arena with his band after hosting his very own barbecue joined by Sister Bliss, Faithless and other A-list guests!

150 of the most legendary DJs on the planet delivered the sets of their lifetimes in each of the sixteen arenas, sending crowds wild and giving ticket holders dance memories to cherish for a lifetime. It is nigh on impossible to cite stand out performances, when every arena was full to capacity. The Godskitchen arena was one of the biggest in Europe holding 15,000 people and was full from start to finish.

The sheer quality and range of music on site, from euphoric trance to drum & bass ensured there was something for everyone, but it was the extra touches and production that took the event stratospheric. The Red Arrows delivered a heart-stopping show at 6pm on the Saturday night whilst David Guetta was on the main stage, drawing a heart in the air before jetting off! Global Gathering saw the debut appearance of Sputnik’s spherical dome on to which projections were screened throughout the weekend.

Production-wise, the Angel Music Group team had to pull out all of the stops to ensure that the event happened. A torrential downpour on the Thursday afternoon before the event opened meant the entire set up was behind schedule and areas of the ground were left water logged. Some of the terraces did not go live until Saturday after the sun had dried out the site and certain areas of the campsite and car parking were re-organised to ensure the safety of all ticket holders. Even Radio 1 suffered temporary technical problems. Pete Tong’s Essential Show was delayed for a few minutes on the Friday whilst an excitable Sara Cox took the helm before Pete returned with Carl Cox.

James Algate, the festival organiser says,
“The atmosphere on site was simply the best yet which shows what an incredible crowd of loyal supporters we have, they would not let the bad weather ruin their enjoyment. The sheer weight of water on site hampered our set-up and members of our production crew didn’t sleep for three nights to ensure the festivals success. It was all worth it because of the phenomenal response we got from guests and DJs alike. A heart-felt thanks goes out to everyone who helped make the event happen. We had unbelievable support from all of the local residents and authorities who all pulled together to ensure a safe and thoroughly enjoyable event”

Gotta say I was dissapointed with Globla after all the hype!
Yes the sound systems were crap as only positioned mainly to the front of the venues. Not enough light to navigate around at night, and yes most of the people on working duties were wankers and didn't give a shit!
The toilets were F%^K$%G awful and positioned in the wrong places!

I could also go on about this event, but it is made a success by the people!

What a Fucking shame the organisers cant stop counting the cash and start concentrating on making it a world class Global Gathering! I rated it a very poor 4 outta 10!

( Yes I like my ! marks...lol)

That artical is the biggest load of toot I have ever read.... almost as laugh out loud worthy as James's quotes on the BBC website!

Either you didn't go to Global, or you where completely of your tits the whole time.

The whole the thing was a complete shambles.... shame on Godskitchen for putting together such a badly organised event.

I feel so guilty that I encouraged people to go with me who had never been, people who had to save for weeks to afford it and they went and they where so dissapointed.

Man, the whole thing kinda sucked from the campsite to the sound levels. The Contagious stage shut down way too early and I got cold sores.... fuck it!

As someone who runs a sound system business I thought the sound on the main stage was OK. The bass was excellent. The top also great but the mid range was lost. I think this could have something to do with the wind. I know you're probably thinking "Shut up you twat - what a pathetic excuse" However I noticed the sound got better when the wind blew in your direction and worse when it blew away from you. Unfortunately despite being called GODskitchen GG and Angel Music Group ARE NOT GOD. They can't do anything about rain or wind. This my first GG since it's been a 2 day affair due to spending the last 2 summers in Ibiza. I had a great weekend. A bit gutted that I couldn't find the Circo Loco stage until really late Saturday evening by which time the clouds had arrived and any Ibiza vibe that may have been present was gone. All in all I thought it was a well organised event. All security I met seemed cool. Thanks to the security team who dragged my van outta the mud on Friday afternoon. The one addition required for next year would most definitely be a Deuce Soundsystem outdoor stage. See below.

gods kitchen are a sponser of previous years

What?!? They weren't sponsors....Godskitchen started the event seven years ago! It was called GODSKITCHEN Global Gathering until recently. It's now run by the wonderful empire that is Angel Music Group, who run Godskitchen and a whole host of other events.

No one is complaining about the weather, read the thread.

I think this could have something to do with the wind

What are you on Adam? Cloud9 Ahem?

Well there's a surprise!!

But I don't think they'll be much use for people to walk on or are they going to double as lights for people to see their way round in the twilight world that was GG.

Was a DEUCE SOUNDSYSTEM, yes a DEUCE SOUNDSYSTEM at the low, low rental cost of $$$ really the only addition you thought necessary?

i found it amazin...but sum of the tents were a bit quiet...but thankfully the fithiest electro was played loud!

fedde le grand needed a good scrub coz he was f**kin stinkin!! he made my nite!!loved every second of his set.every tune just kept on gettin that little bit betta!!i would definately make an effort 2 go c him play next time he's in a club or festival.

didnt like the fact that wen we wanted 2 leave there was only 1 way out and wen we asked the security wer the exit was they didnt have a clue.wen u wanna get out of there stuck in the mud and rain its not very nice i must say.

the best part of the night was when sum random guy put me on his shoulders in the godskitchen tent when armin van burren was playin it was the most amazin experience.seein the thousands of people!that sight will stay with me 4 a good few years.brill!!

Well I haven't got a great story or a fantastic moment to share with you......
Other than the Scottish Lady who came up to me at the Bedrock tent and gave me her handbag to watch, quickly dropped her kegs and went for a pee right there, right then!!!
