Be warned!
Cut my camping weekend short due the nice person who came into my tent while I was asleep and robbed all of my stuff. Luckily for me there was no cash so they slung my iphone, camera, mp3 player and wallet outside. Tip No1. Cash and cards on your person at all times.

A security guy said that thieving is so rife that the security tents were broke into last night.

Sadly too many Chavs and dopeheads either looking to fight or rob you. Security is ridiculously lax and poorly trained by the looks of things. That's why the place is overrun by these elements. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Thankfully these occurrences are extremely rare but there are always a minority that will try to ruin it for others sadly. We offer lockers on site for all valuables and always recommend making friends with all those camped around you so you can all act as eyes and ears for each other when they're not around.

Really sorry to hear about this and it's a massive shame that it ruined your weekend.

I always always always bring a padlock (coded, not keys) for my tent @ festys - recommend that to everyone!!

Soon as some chav starts struggling to open he'll leave it - else people will wonder wtf's going on.

TBH I've head creamfields is much worse - i.e. people will literally pickpocket you whilst you walk past them - no amount of security can stop chavs being chavs until it's too late.

I'd always advise AGAINST having a padlock on your tent to be honest. Gives the impression there is something valuable inside and if someone wants to get inside that badly they will do.

True steve, if they want it bad enough im sure they wont mind slicing the tent up a bit.

all the festivals i go to i take along like this small diesel man bag sort of thing, its so small but it sits on your front perfectly, it's alot nicer knowing all your valuables are in a bag which is bang infront of you aswell

Me and my bf came bk to some random boy asleep in our friends tent lucky enuff he was more shocked how he got there then ran off. I got slapped by some lil runt cos she was an idiot and high as a kite. Our friends chain got stolen rite off his neck people are far to brave now adays. Was rather shocked with the large men walkin round the main stage with a massive bag of pills selling them and forcin people and security did bugga all. I know its a festival and thats what people do and drink there heart out from some one who doesnt drink or do drugs Global was slightly ruined for me. Just felt all the gals had attitude and it was poorly layed out i mean chase and status in a tent should of been main stage i couldnt see half the acts i wanted to was hetic. Went to creamfields last yr did enjoy that bit more not just cos of the music but was bit more relaxed people higher secuirty for sure this yr people where just walkin booze and drugs in was quite shockin. Still had a gd wkend tho.

Sorry Steve but line of 50 people outside the police van and the security guy would beg to differ about them being a rare occurance. And that was only when I arrived there. It may be statistically rare because people wouldnt wait in yet another queue to report a crime which they have no chance or care to stop.

As for making friends, I suspect it was the two neighbours I did make friends with that did it. They were the first to approach me as I was packing up my tent and when I mentioned I had been robbed they said they were sad it happened. I know if I was in a tent next to someone who had had there tent broken into and their stuff ransacked whilst they lay there I'd be diving into my tent to check that my stuff was still there and it was safe and not make small take asking how long I had to drive and the likes. I have no cast iron proof but it was pretty odd behaviour. I did try and make the others I passed as I left the area to be wary of thieves so hopefully whoever it was would come a cropper if they tried it elsewhere. In some respects, I was lucky I didn't wake as I did note one of my metal tent pegs, the blade type, discarded outside my tent.

There was not one security or GG representative from the middle of Red campsite to the main entrance. I was quite shocked. I was walking quite slow as I was fully laden. If there had been any sort of emergency like a major fire as tents were butt up against each other then there would have been serious injury and possibly death with the state of people sleeping off the night before.

I have camped all weekend at Creamfields last year and the whole atmosphere on the campsite was a lot more relaxed. Security was much better and every which way you turned. At the end of the day security are there to make the place more secure and it's no wonder GG was not.

I wouldn't return to GG which is sad cos I enjoyed the choons all night in Global tent. Nevermind, at least I live to dance another day. :)

As I say, you will always get a minority that is out to ruin other people's weekends which is sad really but when you have 50,000 people together they're not all going to be good eggs, such is the way of life.

Massive shame that is happened to you though, and of course anyone, you wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I can only apologise on the behalf of all of us at Angel Music Group.

Combination or padlocks are not the best idea really. Again any sort of fire hazard this would severely hamper your own exit.

I think the solution, to dramatically reduce cos you will never completely stop it, is better, heightened, visible, and specifically trained security. If they make it more uncomfortable for the dregs to get in then they will go elsewhere or not at all. I was not checked once by any GG staff in or out. I could have brought anything in or stole anything too.

The arenas had staff on the entrances and where stopping people smoking as they went in the tents for about thirty minutes but after that they gave up and even before that they wouldn't approach people once they were inside ten feet and lit up. As the night went on they just weren't bothered.

I was one of the first few hundred through to the arenas and I noted that there were about twelve middle aged clean shaven groomed people stood talking on the main route through the arenas. Now I am not up to no good but they were so obviously undercover police, and it pretty much confirmed it as they all had black GG wristbands on. If I was a baddun' I could have taken a picture of these and handed it to my fellow baddies to make them aware who they were or just mentioned the police are wearing black wristbands this year boys so beware.

I'm over it really Steve. I had a lucky escape, as it could have been a lot worse for me and also from what I have read about the idiots out on Saturday nights I did the right thing in going. At the end of the day I'll see the DJ's I missed next time they are around my way.

Thanks for the apology though and I really hope some of the more disturbing things can be addressed before you have a major disaster on your hands.

Ah yeah I wouldn't lock it while I was in there hehe :P

Steve you've a good point - theres my logic out the window again hahaha ;P Half the festivals ive been to (which aint that many) have been ones im playing at so I've had to keep my cd's & headphones etc in the tent when I'm not using them...hence me locking em in...

Though at things I've not played at in the past I've not bothered & kept all my valuables on me. Lock my tent at freefestivals only. Just so no scruffy ketty fucker tries to nick my sleeping bag.

I always find the messier ur tent looks the less likely scabs will try and root around ;)

Hiya Hun, Good luck at IOM.

I was in the tent asleep when they were going through my stuff. I even had my earphones pugged into the mp3 with my music banging, as I always sleep with them in, and they placed it next to me rather than take it and risk the chance that I would wake.

They were only interested in notes/cash which was in my sleeping bag with me and hence they got nowt. They took my wallet and slung it cos it was empty and they left my iPhone (I don't think they realised it was one cos of the Mili battery charger it's in), my mp3 player (decent 32GB Cowon), my car and house keys and even a bag of coins (dickheads didn't realise that there was about £45 in change). They took my ear protectors in their case and then I am sure they must have popped them back in the tent later cos I found them near the zip which had been opened a little again even though I had definitely closed it fully after what had happened.

I do accept that I have been niave and too trusting under the circumstances but I have escaped as I say and the lesson has been learnt. I doubt I will festicamp again. X

Cheers chicken!!!

That is cheeky as, never seen anything quite like that before - shame it's put you off camping though because I'm sure that it must be rare! Hope you can rebuild ur trust as some festys are awesome camping, never been to Global but I'm hearing awesome reports on FB etc - whoever did that will get found out one day soon and they'll get whats coming to them!! The clubbing community is too tight a place for them to get away with it for too long!

On a lighter note, me and jono were monging out in our tent at SGP last year when a properly ketty young fellow decided to climb in with us - he was absolutely certain it was his tent, and then decided that my hoodie was also his and that proved it was his tent! Took AGES to get rid of him!!!

The thing is it's all so often the few idiots that end up spoiling it. I may be persuaded to camp again one day but not on my tod cos I think you are a lot more vulnerably to this sort of thing.

I think we all need a wingman and I just don't have one. I'll live without camping and the constant need to keep my wits about me at the festival venue. I'll save my missus's money and target weekenders maybe or bootcamp in ibiza and/or a few possible visits to some of the venues I havent been to in europe that I can book a room rather than a tent for the price of a room. I quite fancy Exit and want to go to sample Berlin's delights especially Berghain before I die (but not immediately before like that poor bugger in Frankfurt earlier this year).

This is the main reason Ive only ever been on a Saturday only ticket.

I have to admit that the amount of fights I saw this year was a lot worse than in the past, Ive been going since 2006 and have to say this year I saw a lot more people kicking off.... Maybe its the vibe now? Just seems more people are there getting drunk whereas years ago everybody was probably loved up so to speak....

I'd love it if they had a bit more diversity for the music, most tents sound very similar nowadays and for those of us who are over 30 it would be cool to get some of the older DJs from back in the day and play maybe some sort of Classics tent for later on in the night? I reckon that might go down well?
