THE RISE OF LIQUID SWEET KANDI TO MY EARS
The club buzzed as the night got off to what was to be an awesome event. It was clear from the offset that the there was some off the scale talent performing for the eager clubbers - who were soaking up the beats.

INM8 deserve praise and recognition for they're choice of DJ's in the line up for this event - each complimented each other in style and choice of sets. As with any event a build up in the motion of sound is definitely a must - and they did not disappoint. It was evident that a lot of hard work had gone into the planning of this event from the graphics, decor, and set up of the awesome sound system used. The sound engineer worked hard to ensure that at no time was there a problem with clarity or volume - ensuring the clubbers got the full experience that turned out to be in my opinion the best Liquid Kandi to date.

Brookes Brothers set the tone - certainly a new talent which will be one to follow in the coming months. His mix of jump up and liquid certainly put peeps on the dance floor - walking around and watching the flow of the club you could see that everyone was certainly enjoying this DJ's set.

Cyantific followed he is certainly a well known and in my opinion very talented DJ - bringing in fresh tracks and mixing in some old skool D&B for the masses - he kept everyone jumping about if not panting for more.

Benny Page - well he is certainly going to go far - his mix of Dub and D&B was original and his skills were amazing - he is a high riser and it was certainly an honour to be there as he played out at this event.

Xcessive & Danny Intrikut - they definitely put down some beats - and what’s more connected well with the ravers. You could see they're enjoyment doing they're job - and doing it so well - I expect to see more of them in the coming months and they deserve a big well done to churning out a set that did not disappoint.

During the event the support to the DJ's was for nominal - Pavinda's vocals were amazing - she has such range - and not only that you could see the passion and enjoyment making it not just a gig but a performance. You rock chick - definitely. Nick Fisher the man on the drums - he supported the music - and added a spin to the DJ's mixing the tunes. His connection and motivation that he added to the clubbers was achieved with ease.

The MC's were amazing - I have a lot respect for MC's that can put it down with vocals that you can understand - have meaning or humour, and the certainly did just that. GMMC and Chrissy B 2 of Swindon’s best up and coming MC's really did well. MC Texas - well he always has something to say and I always enjoy listening to it - for this he has received recognition and is a high riser in the South West. To JNR Blue - big up to you mate - when he got on the mic he certainly had fun and I enjoyed listening to him.

Something that struck me and was a joy to see - everyone who was up in the DJ booth or working on the night - had fun, smiles & a camaraderie - for me it made the night as its not just quality music to complete my experience. The atmosphere and attitudes of the promoters & club staff - gave me and many others positive & lasting memory. That’s what this is all about - community - and in that room there was abundance of it giving a good feeling.

The added extras certainly gave the night a fun element, 2 lovely ladies walked round shooting vodka orange shots to the clubbers - (me included) they were rather tasty. Free sweets in tailored bowls showing the logo of the night were scattered round - and by the end they were no more sweets anywhere - proving that energy levels needed constant replenishment.

The club decor was amazing the visual effects supplied by the projection crew were impressive and I could not help taking some awesome shots. Plus they really had fun behind that stage - big up boys. Bees strewn around with Black and Gold Streamers, balloons, very striking and professional graphics hang from the ceiling completing the ambience.

I asked several people during the event they're views on the night - and Drum & Bass is keyed to make a come back in Swindon is the consensus. They will definitely be coming to the next instalment. With rave reviews like these Liquid Kandi is setting the stage and is set to grow - putting Swindon back on the map for D&B.

Well done to INM8 and all involved.

Applebee x

Ha ha ha I have to insist that I have no desire to sanctify anyones butt - Indeed, I am not a butt blesser, and I don't go blessing bums - so Danny darling you will have to wait until a butt blesser comes lol
