Telford's biggest DJ Line up since the early 90's, BIG BIG BIG!

This article is about Telford (UK)

DJ Hype

DJ Hype is widely considered one of the pillars of modern drum and bass, with a pivotal role in expanding musical styles within that genre. He was an early DJ on one of London’s pirate stations, Fantasy FM, and has been popular on the international DJ circuit, landing awards for Best Male DJ and Best Radio DJ.

The Ganja label gained almost immediate popularity, primarily through floor-fillers such as DJ Krome & Time’s “Ganja Man” and DJ Zinc’s “Super Sharp Shooter.” That popularity peaked with the release of their first LP in 1996: 'Still Smokin’, a label compilation released jointly by Ganja and cohort Pascal’s Frontline imprint. The album became one of the highest-selling independent jungle compilations.

Simon Bassline Smith

Simon was given the name ‘Bassline’ after destroying the majority of the speakers at the parties at which he played.

In the early 1990’s Simon ‘Bassline’ Smith was at the forefront, playing for some of the biggest dance organizations in the country such as: - Perception, Methology, Rain Dance, Dance ’91 and World Dance.

As the underground rave scene progressed in the early 1990’s Simon ‘Bassline’ Smith was at the forefront, playing for some of the biggest dance organizations in the country such as: - Perception, Methology, Rain Dance, Dance ’91 and World Dance. Along side such house hold names like Grooverider, Fabio, Mickey Finn and Jumping’ Jack Frost.
Simon was spearheading the new musical form (Jungle) now known as Drum & Bass.

Simon quickly set up his own label, called Absolute 2, which at the time, was one of the only Drum & Bass labels in the world. He signed Doc Scott, Nookie and Ray Keith and released their debut productions. With the success of Absolute 2, under his belt Simon began his career as a producer. He was an instant success with anthems such as:- Music and Life, Jungle, Mine, Distinction,Palomino and Midnight which can still be heard in sets across the globe today.

His musical style was, to say the least, ahead of its time.

Jaydan

Jaydan Aka Jamie Cope hails from Leicester and has been into drum & bass ever since discovering it through his older brothers love of the music. From his early teens he was listening to rave music through his brother and in his friends bedrooms and started attending various under 18s raves around Leicester.

Jaydan has been producing now for just over 5 yrs and is happy to have had a steady stream of releases, he has received support and excellent press comments from many of the scenes leading players including the whole Full Cycle camp, Dj Marky, Hype, Goldie & Total Science to name a few. More recently Jaydan has been receiving attention from the godfather of Drum & Bass Dj Grooverider who is supporting his music on BBC Radio 1 aswell as on worldwide dancefloors.

Already he has had a feature written on him in the Metro Newspaper, performed in Amsterdam, Belgium & Poland, Started his own Label "Smokin Riddims", Signed to Urban Agency and is due to appear in a feature in Knowledge Magazine. With an increasingly busying Dj schedule now including worldwide appearances and an ever increasing portfolio the future for Jaydan Is looking very bright.

Thank fuck you're on the ball Dubs, Daves a bit slow during daylight hours.

Yeah the shoot it went really well Dave, we recorded 2 videos, War Pigs & Symptoms of the Universe, with the full lighting rig and 3 massive screens behind the band.....Pat will be uploading some stills sometime soon & i'm starting the edit tomorrow, i'll post the links when uploaded.
The main problem i'm gonna find is trying to make it not look like a hotel room, its supposed to be a live gig, but the hotel carpet looks like a clowns trousers, multi coloured, not very rock n roll.
