I mean no disrespect to any of these threads, fair play to you for doing something...my point is how sad it is that there isnt a thriving clubbing scene in a huge ever expanding place like Telford.

with proper guidlines i think it could work, so everyone gets a chance to show their stuff.

Something like

start 2 hours - anything goes - rock/punk/ska/reggae/jazz/funk etc.
middle 2-3 hours- up to 140bpm, give or take a few bpm, so that covers dub up to house/breaks type stuff
last few hours - 140+ - hard dance/dnb/hardcore/gabba etc.

have you spoke to dale... ? he has already offered myself the venue for an event .. current events are not exactly filling the venue so make him an offer ......hes open to pretty much anything at the mo ...

I havn't spoke to Dale no dude. I've got too much on my plate to solely promote a night in Telford. I got our 2 nights in Wolves, Thursdays @ Whispers plus other guests sets and gubbins.

I'll gladly help out if someone else wants to go for it, but actually being the main man is too much for me at the moment

a varied night for me would consist of 1 disco/funky house dj, 1 house/deep house dj, 1 dnb/jungle/liquid blah blah dj, 1 hardhouse/techno/hard trance dj, 1 breakbeak dj, 1 hardcore dj, 1 commercial dj even, 1 soul dj, 1 dub/reggae dj, world music, jazz, rock, punk, ska, whatever......EVERY style gets a chance, imagine the crazy fucking crowd you'd get in there.

Pretty much everything you've mentioned in there I know a DJ who plays it.

The thing I've noticed about varied nights though is that they don't fill out as much as one-genre nights. Possibly down to a lot of people having tunnelvision and focus on one genre and that's it.

Personally I think it's a great idea and should be tried... why the fuck not? :)

I reckon a night starting off in a small venue/pub room would be a good way to start it, i'd suggest Churchills if there wasnt a sound/local moaning cunt issue. whats it cost to hire anyway?

Venue is the biggy to this nights success...

It has to be raver friendly (proper trained doorstaff working for US not the venue, to keep uncool idiots away)
smoking area with low sound spill outside
late licence (4am ideally, 2-3 would do initailly)
Good location to get passing trade/punters in.
Parking nearby
Cheap/free to rent (increased drinks sales should cover venue costs eventually)
Friday or Saturday only, saturday preferred.

Sound System, decks, lights, visuals, is all ready to go
Djs wont be a problem, between us we know enough

So....venue? Any suggestions of places looking to increase their weekend drink sales who have a room for rent or will let us put a monthly in their venue on the cheap.

Think grotty pubs, clubs & halls - cheaper & would be more grateful for the extra trade than a swish venue.

Gonna find out if the owner is up for some mixed stuff there, i know he likes rock music.

good parking, away from houses, somewhere to smoke & chill, probably free, or very cheap, 2 rooms if demand was high.

Its a possible, the owner is running an all day rock/band event on the 5th May so he's def up for some musical stuff going on, just depends if he can put up with repetative beats & what his licence says
