1. Hi Andrea, for those that dont know could you please tell us a little bit about yourself, where you are from & what first got you involved in dance music & the European hard trance scene. ?

I was born in Modena and I still live there it is a city in north Italy
I am 30 years old and I have been involved with music for 17 years
I started working with music in the early 90s when techno music
reached Italy, and I fell in love straight away with this sound, as
years went by and I started to understand my musical direction it took
me to Trance/Hard Trance and hardstyle.

2. Hailing from Italy alongside the likes of other top producers / Dj's such as Luca Antolini, Fj Project, Trance Generators, how does the scene in your home country compare to things over here in the UK ?
which do you prefer ?

In Italy, hard trance and tech-trance has never really had much
success, this is why Djs and producers that live in Italy and produce
this music, have found success in other countries like the UK, in
Italy there is a very culture for Hardstyle, but at moment minimal
techno and progressive is very big.
Djs I follow in UK are Mark EG, Cally and Juice, the Organ Donors, Kutski,
Alex Kidd, Louk, Nick the Kid, Scott Atrill, and many others.

3. Your back catalogue of releases is simply amazing with classic tunes like 'Black Door' , 'Millenium', & 'Roll of Bass' on Gas Records & more recently your remix of Delerium's 'Silence' & 'Tiger' on Red Alert, what direction will you be taking in the future with your style & sound ? & what productions are there in the pipeline that we need to look out for ?

Like now, and for the future, most of my productions, will have an
old school hard trance feel about them, I did not like the direction
in which hard trance was going, it somehow cancelled the true
characteristics that European Hard Trance had.

4. Where else will you be playing / Gigging throughout 2009 ?. Will this be your only UK appearance or can we expect to see you anywhere else in the UK this year ?

In 2009, I will be looking to gig a lot more in the UK, having joined
a new agency Raw 8 which is ran by a very good friend of mine Manny,
which I have worked with him over the last 8 years.

5. Tunes on your label 'Red Alert' have always featured heavily in various dj's sets at Hindsight over the years, what does the future hold for Red Alert, are there any new artists we should look out for on this Imprint.

In the future, with my friends and producers, Luca Antolini, Riky T
and Gilbert Renoir, are looking at different avenues, to push our Hard
European Trance sound, there may be certain changes at Red Alert, as
we would love to have more of a UK label presence

6. What are the vital components of the Andrea Montorsi Studio set up ? Are you still using hardware or completely computer based like so many others these days?

In my studio, I have little analogue equipment, I am fully computerised Studio,
Running majority of the latest Music software.

7. What are your thoughts on the current Vinyl / Download culture & do you think the way in which dj's buy their music these days has had a positive impact on the dance music scene?

In Regards to downloads, it was inevitable seeing the cost of vinyl
production, and with the arrival of CD in nightclubs, it just made it
very much easier, but it is important that people do not download
music illegally as it has an effect on record labels and producers.

8. When you play Hindsight on the 8th May, what will you have in store for the Southwest hard trancers? and why should people come & check it out ?

For hindsight, I will be playing a montorsi classics set with some of
the best Hard European trance around at the moment, with some new
productions that will be played for the first time in UK, there will
be lots of good melodies and full of energy , very Hard trance and
very montorsi sound.

9. Which UK events / Gigs have you played before ? what were your thoughts on them ? Was there any one in particular that stands out ?

In UK, I have played quiet a lot over the years, being a resident for Religion,
Also Storm vs Religion at emporium, I have played for Atmosphere a few times
Also in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and Q-Dance Qclub and Defqon 1
in Holland.

10. Finally, it's a well known fact that people from the South West like to party hard! How does mr Montorsi unwind after a gig ? is it warm cuppa / slippers and off to bed ? or last man standing at the 3rd afterparty on Monday morning ?

After I have played I like to relax, meet some new people, have a bite
to eat, and have a smoke, then to bed hopefully with a nice girl ha ha
ha .

Thanks you all take care and see you all at Hindsight
