A New Beginning with Scott Brown
This night was being hailed as ‘the new beginning’, the new beginning of Q-Bic! After the success of the Clubland X-Treme party back in June at the H20 club, Q-Bic had moved back to H20 for the night and with Scott Brown headlining! this was one that I dare not miss!

Weston super mare was packed with holiday makers and people making their way into town on their Saturday night out all gazing at the sun set that was turning the sky of the north coast blood red and as we pulled into the car park next to the club, there was a definite holiday party atmosphere in the town, I do love going out on hot summer nights! Everyone glowing from the day’s sun, dressed up and looking forward to the night ahead!

As we arrived at the club, memories of the T4 afterparty came flooding back and I remembered just how stunning this venue was, with its obtrusive pillars at the entrance, the floor to ceiling windows that look out over the sandy beach, testament to the fact that this venue really is what Q-Bic desires, especially in the summer and deservedly so!
There was already a queue! We grabbed a drink and said hello to everyone, most of who, like us, were still recovering from the night before!

Bishop had just started his set! And with MC Vandal on the mic, the place was beginning to fill up. This pair are so well suited as a DJ/MC tag team, with Bishop’s remarkable, totally natural and totally effortless scratching ability alongside Vandal’s mouth scratching was just such a pleasurable listen! Throw in tunes such as ‘I got a feeling’, ‘bring me round to love’ and the anthem ‘making me wanna dance’ and you have got yourself an hour to pull you up, push you onto the dance floor and not let you go!

The Hardcore Distortion promoter Outburst was next to hit the decks to a totally ‘up for it’ crowd and it was still only 10pm! We had another 6 hours to go!! MC Sykee was on the mic, this was the first time I had really listened to this MC on his own and was surprisingly impressed! He already has a good reputation and was impressed when I saw him and Trigger B2B at HTID/Fusion last month, and he had a good rapport with the crowd and some original lyrics.
Chris Outburst started with his own tune ‘half a world’ always evident in his sets of present and always a crowd pleaser, followed by ‘spending my time’ and ‘time bomb’ made sure that the floor was kept full for the hour, despite a few technical hitches.

The Q-Bic promoter Ralph was up for the next hour and as always, Ralph delivered a blinding pre-headliner set, full of floor busters, starting with ‘save me’ going onto ‘hold me forever’, ‘torn’, ‘set you free’ and ‘pullover’ I just love that tune!! MC Motion, as always, delivered a blinding performance with his bouncy vocals and crowd interaction; the pair had spun the crowd into a frenzy by the time Scott Brown arrived! I wasn’t quite sure if anyone would have the energy to go on!!

At 12am Scott Brown arrived! Now I have been a huge fan of this guy since I bought Hardcore Heaven II back in…. erm…. Many moons ago!! I haven’t seen him DJing out for ages and it was an absolute treat to see him again in the South West. And he is such a nice bloke! Saying hello to the crowd of ravers, having his photo taken by the barrage of sweaty stompers. Even if no one could tell a word he was saying with his stern Scottish accent! We could have done with some subtitles especially after a balloon was forced upon him!!
Rude then accompanied Scott to the front of the stage to an effervescent crowd of ravers, wild-eyed and fully anticipating the next hour of pure unadulterated Scott Brown!
What an hour it was! With tunes such as ‘fly with you’, ‘only your love’ and the ultimate Scott Brown tune and now total classic ‘Elysium’ followed by some of the more bouncier gabba ensured that the whole of Q-Bic was completely satisfied by the headliner of the night. The atmosphere was just utterly electric through the whole of Scott Brown’s set and the big man seemed as through he was thoroughly enjoying his Q-Bic debut and how could he not? With a club looking this good, coupled with the crowd that was on a total summer vibe!

DJA followed with a tame set from the dark god of gabba!! With tunes contained in the hour including ‘don’t make me wait’, ‘boomcore’, ‘the event’ and ‘bass generator’ And with Sykee on the mic for a second spell of the night ensured that the crowd were not leaving the dance floor and we still had another 3 hours of hardcore to go!!

Michael Brookes was on at 2am with MC Trigger on the mic, the hour opened with ‘inspiration’, followed by ‘getting better’, ‘slide away’ and Outbust’s ‘cut the bass’! I was stunned that there just seemed to be no one leaving yet! The crowd were just loving Mickey! Another top, effortless DJ who doesn’t ever get the credit deserved! Trigger was defiantly content up on the stage performing even if his voice had taken a battering over the last few days, no one noticed though and his performance was fantastic!

Kickback took over the decks for the last hour and with the opening tune of his set being pendulum’s ‘another planet’ going on to ‘this is how we do it’ ensured that the crowd were heading for a Kickback trip once again!!

We headed off towards the very end, saying goodbye to what seemed half the room!! This is one thing I can say to all of you thinking of coming down to a Q-Bic, as with most of the events happening in the South West at the moment, you will find the most ‘up for it’, friendliest bunch of hardcore heads this side of the M4! Even if you come on your own, there will always be a family waiting for you! We have all met and made friends for life at a Q-Bic!!......... And the Q-Bic phoenix did rise! And it did return, bigger, brighter and more beautiful than ever!! Don’t say I didn’t tell you so!!!

Shouts out to: Ralph, what can I say?? You did it again! Thanks for another top night! And thanks to Mickey and all the Q-Bic crew, and to our ravin’ family: Chris Outburst & Jane, Trigger and Martin K-team minder, Motion & Tash, Starfairy & Emz, Jessop and Lucy, Nath & Payner the Kaner!! Niacin, Sykee, Limpstar, Vandal & Jen, DjA & Mrs. A, Bishop and Kickback! Love you all xx
