BANUS DOOR POLICIES
Banus!! Wot can I say? Was there actually anyone left in the club by the end of the night or had the intolerant door staff worked their way through the whole capacity of the club! After an unsuccessful photo with Grooverider himself (note to self radio1 djs are above that) not at all bitter!! I then watched as 2 of my party were ejected for reasons unknown to me I myself was half way through relieving my bladder when a jumped up member of the door staff hammered on the toilet door and demanded I "get the fuck out" I was then escorted to the door when I asked what I had done wrong. I was then accused of taking substances in the club and was told to leave or I would be searched. With a completely clear conscience and head I told them to go right ahead and search as I had nothing to find. After an unsuccessful search I asked if I could return inside and was told "No you were definetly up to something in the cubical I when I looked over"!! Perhaps my response was a little short but what the fk were the door staff doin perving on geezas in the toilet in the first place theres a time and place for that kind of carry on and it aint no where near me on my time you get me people. Tell me if im over reacting but after being told to leave I was greeted by 4 other people thrown out just prior to myself which got me thinking do they actually want to make a profit in this club? After Slinkys weekly residency turned to dust there isnt a pluthera of nights like this in the area and thought there maybe something new startin in my ends but I can assure you, that will be the last time I visit Wankin Weymouth which is a shame as Lisa Pinn up is spinning at the end of March lets just hope there's enough clubbers to greet her when she spins! Lisa if your out there best get an early set if you want punters to play to!!!

In response to the original comment about being thrown out:
If indeed you hadn't done anything wrong, then an apology is in order if you were thrown out.

People have to remember one thing, whatever your personal stance on drugs, recreational drug use within a licensed club is illegal.

The club stands to loose not only it's license, but also receive large fines if drug abuse is reported to the authorities.
In that respect, the owners, management and door staff have a zero tolerance policy within the club.

The door staff watch the gents toilets because, that, being a place where CCTV is not legally allowed, becomes the main area for substance abuse.

Those that are caught there and anywhere else within the club will be asked to leave and if they refuse, will be ejected.

On that particular night, there had been a number of people asked to leave due to substance abuse.
Maybe those people in your group that had already been ejected were for that reason.

Certain types of events attract different types of people and some attract those for whom drug use is a normal part of their evening.
Banus doesn't care what happens outside the club, people are free individuals to do as and what they please.
But, once inside the building, you are subject to the policies with which we have been granted a license.
It is known that undercover officers from both the Police and local authorities do monitor local establishemnts, so we therefore have to be seen to be taking a firm, zero tolerance towards substance abuse.
Sometimes, there maybe the occasion when someone is thought to be using illegal substances is asked to leave the club because their actions or associates create suspicion.
With illegal substances being quite easy to hide, it is down to the doormans individual assesment.
I understand that this may not always be correct, but in the majority of cases it is.

Your point about profitable nights should also bare in mind that if the Police and local authorities deem our drug policy to be ineffective, there could be no nights held at all.

As a regular to Banus, thats most Saturdays and often on the big nights too, I have always found the club and door staff to be even minded and fair, but firm with it.

Personally, I have never been searched in the Club, but have been plenty of times at other venues, including Slinky @ the Opera House, Dance Academy in Plymouth, Global Gathering, Slinky @ the BIC, and Fabric in London, etc. So if I was ever searched at Banus, I wouldn't take it personally.

It's a shame that they didn't let you back in after finding you with nothing, and I guess I would be a little narked if I had come down a long way for a special night and had been ejected, but at the end of the day, they have a job to do to keep the club with a trading licence, and occasionally mistakes are quite possibly made.

Edit: Incidenatally its not like Banus is the only club in the world to have a firm door / drug policy - read a couple of pages of this thread... There is probably a thread similar to this for every half serious club in the UK either on here DSI or on other clubbing websites.

Pretty sure they will have had a good reason... They aren't likely to chuck punters out who would be spending money just for kicks... wouldn't be good business sense!

Surely, if he had nothing at all on him, he could explain that he was just taking a photo? People really don't just get kicked out for absolutely no reason, do they?

Well it seems that way! Whilst i was in the chillout room i got told that my mate had been kicked out so i went to the front door and asked why did he get kicked out. They said because he was drug dealing which was shit cos he was only takin a photo..
I appreciate that there is tight security at Banus, obviously for reasons like drug dealin but for a reason like 'takin a photo' of a flyer on the wall.... come on, thats takin the piss abit!!

Whilst I'm flattered that someone enjoys my hard work doing the posters and flyers that much they feel the need to photograph it, may I suggest that your friend may not have been entirly truthful in what he said to you.

Whilst I can't say exactly in this case the reason for your friends ejection, if the doorstaff said it was for dealing, then that may very well be the case.
You have to remember that dealing, in both the eyes of doorstaff and the Police is supplying someone else, even if they are a friend or partner. It will also be the words used if he was trying or did purchase drugs.

wtf....my other mate saw every thing what happened. i went to take a photo of the poster and the two fatties grabbed me and dragged me outside, and said i was dealing.
I told them to search me, as i was not selling, in fact i was not even using... but they would not search me..probably coz they knew i wasnt dealin. If you do believe i was dealin CHECK THE FUCKIN CAMERAS.....the camera never lies ;)

As a result to this i dont even think i ever want to attend another event at banus and i would not recomend the club to anybody at all.

I used the word 'may' implying that sometimes people do tell the whole truth to their peers, and sometimes they don't.
As I said in posts before yours, the doorman don't just throw people out for no reason.
If their were two of them, 'something' would have caused one to be suspicous enough to be watching you and then call for a second doorman to be there when they approached you, so there would be a delay in what they saw, or may have seen and you being where you were doing what you were doing when they asked you to leave.

As I also said, sometimes they do, in a small number of cases, get things wrong.
If that is the case, then please accept this as an apology.

Maybe they saw you doing something that looked suspiciously like dealing / buying / taking drugs earlier on in the night, and after keeping a good eye on you decided that was a good time to eject you.

At the end of the day getting kicked out, whether for the right or for the wrong reason, is all part of the clubbing experience. I have always found the door staff at Banus to be fair and even minded. At some other clubs, all over the south, I have been rigorously searched on the door going in which puts you in a bad mood before you have started... I have also found that friends have been kicked out without being at fault and we have all gone home early. even after travelling hours to that night. Yeah, I was pissed off at the time as it ended our night, but you will find that you get things like that in life! It never stopped me going back to the OH @ bournemouth, just because a mate was asked to leave once!

Remember some clubs will kick you out if you just look too messy!!

Just get over it, and get on with your life, ffs!
