Friday 28th September is the 10th birthday of Chunes Record Shop and to mark the occasion we are having the biggest and best EXOTIC party yet!
This time we bring you the ultimate hard dance, techno and hardcore selection with no less than five headline artists and over 20 acts in total brought together to celebrate a decade of dance.
PROTEUS
Topping the bill is DJ Proteus who was voted the World’s Best Hard Dance DJ two years running in 2004 and 2005. He will be flying in direct from Finland (home of Finrg Recordings) for this exclusive performance. Proteus has taken the UK by storm with his hard, fast and energetic style spiced up with technical tricks and his infectious stage presence. MARK EG
Adding to the main room madness is fellow nutter Mark EG, who returns for his third performance in Weymouth. Mark is loved worldwide for his unrivalled showmanship and technique; he guarantees to raise the roof every time and as such has become an essential part of the Exotic experience. ADAM LAB 4
Although more commonly known as one half of the mighty Lab 4 Live P.A., Adam has actually been DJ’ing for 7 years (including sets at The Country Club, Bulldog Bash, Sanctuary and Wildchild festivals amongst many others), and is now a major player within the hard dance and techno scene. He is also one of the very few artists that were considered talented enough to team up for B2B sets with some of the scene's highest achievers - the beautiful and very talented Queen of Hard House, Lisa Lashes, as well as Japanese legend, Yoji Biomehanika. EPHEXIS
Exotic’s main room wouldn’t be complete without a Live PA and this time we have chosen Ephexis- a duo from Southampton who have been performing worldwide for over four years. They are fired by their passion for pushing the boundaries of freeform dance music and are known for their incredible energy and enthusiastic crowd interaction. They have a solid worldwide fan base and have played regularly in Finland and Australia at legendary raves such as ‘Godspeed’ in Sydney, ‘Mayhem’ in Brisbane and the ‘Koniesto’ Festival in Helsinki. Unlike many other live acts currently frequenting the Underground Dance Scene, Ephexis have their own unique sound which, like their Queen of Clubs predecessors, LAB4, cannot be pigeon-holed into any one style of dance music. Completing the main room line-up will be Iain Cross and Dave Scott- both ex-residents of The Country Club and two of the most popular and consistent DJ’s on the South West circuit.
ALEX CALVER
Headlining the Techno Room this time round is UK Schranz master Alex Calver. A major influence in the UK and across the globe, he has had over 100 vinyl releases on labels such as Hydraulix, Working Vinyl and Blipped Out including 15 on his own imprint Glitch Recordings. Weymouth has always had a strong techno following and at Exotic we aim to please so for his debut Alex will be playing 90 minutes of the filthiest techno known to humanity!. Providing support in this room comes from some of the most experienced and versatile techno DJ’s in the area. BCR Boyz, Meri, Dave Brown, Robin H, Techno Rob and Tribe Of Locust free-party DJ Jamie C will be laying down the serious sounds. Hard techno, acid techno, and schranz… whatever you call it this room is going to bang!
As with previous events, The Basement will be home to both established and fresh talent, providing an alternative Hard House, Hard Trance and Hardcore arena. DJ Maximum of Bare Cheek Recordings leads the way and will be joined by veterans Chubba (Firewall) and Foggy along with relative newcomers Gazzy B & Riggsy (Positive Energy). Showing that hard work and the right attitude pays off, Jase The Case will be playing his debut set proving that demos do get heard at Exotic HQ.
Finally, the Front Bar with its seafront terrace makes the perfect chill out with breaks and beats supplied by local heroes DJ Willis, Odyssey 92, Dope Jon Paul, and Jim Bong.
