Harder Help VS Hard Trancelation Review<

First off I think… well I know a big round of applause should go the man at the top of the pile at HDR, Ryki! He’s put in sooooo much effort it’s shocking! Everyone did their little bits to help as ‘the path of the one is made by the many’ but wow! Ryki was just so organised and on top of everything, even tho I bet it didn’t always feel that way…

I would also like to thank all the DJ’s who came along and thrashed out the best tunes I’ve ever heard! A shout out has to go to 2012 for letting us use the bar for the Pre-party, one more thanks goes to my little brother for giving me some chewing gum before I left (not that he knew I took it at the time, lol).

The day for us started at 9.30 when I picked up Ryki and all the gear, it took us a few hours to get everything set up how we wanted it, the fabric over head, the camo netting, the Harder Help and Hard Trancelation signs, the UV cannons and all that jazz. I even tried to make a nice sign on the black board out of the front of harry’s but the fact I failed art GCSE was clear so we ended up with posters instead. In the end the club looked so good you could have placed it in Ibiza! It was amazing...

Then we all went out separate ways and got ready… 4 red bulls, 3 chocolate bars and 2 packets of crisps later I was buzzing and ready for 10 Hours of partying! I drove into town and spent half an hour looking for a good parking space… but that not interesting so I’ll move on to the Pre-Party.

Bar 2012 – Pre Party

5.55pm and our First dj hadn’t turned up, Gavin Quiet the runner up from our Dj comp, I became really worried I was going to have to take his place and try and make 45 minutes worth of tunes last 2 hours, but in good Dj style he gave me the I’m lost phone call, with some help he finally found the club at 5.59! Gavin went on from 6 till 7, after that Ryki was to busy running around so Gavin filled in and went back 2 back with me. Then Rory McCart was running late so… Gavin filled in for him till he turned up, a big thank has to go to Gavin for all the extra time he played for us… though I’m sure he didn’t mind. Gavin played some amazing tunes and even started doing some very skilled scratching till Rory took over the one’s and two’s. By this time the bar was filling up nicely we had a good number in and the vibe was building, then we got the phone call from Little Boss Man that the club was open for us to do the final checks and put up the lasers.

Harry’s Nightclub - The Main Event – Downstairs

We were walking around into the club when the coach load of Cardiff nutters lead by Estee came bombing down the street; we point them in the direction of 2012 and got on with the madness of setting up. While Ryki was upstairs getting the laser sorted I continued to get the downstairs system all checked out and preparing for my set.

The bouncers were all getting briefed on the night, the alcohol was getting restocked… the nerves, the anticipation, the excitement and the atmosphere were building, then I got the nod… we were open for euphoria, I hit play on the CD Turntable and started off the Hard Trancelation arena with F16 by Simon Patterson, as my set went on the peeps started pouring in the door an it was getting busy!

The dance floor was having trouble getting started as everyone was too sober to stand around dancing on there own in the middle floor, then out of nowhere this girl in a white Wales top started dancing, which attracted some lads out onto the floor… next thing I know I’ve got a dance floor full of peeps going mad. All to soon my set had finished I we welcomed our HDR Dj Comp winner Steve O Bradley who dropped some amazing hard house and tidy trax laid over with some really well done acapellas and samples, straight after his set sadly he had to jet off to Leeds for his second set of the night. Then Came the set I was mostly looking forward to in the HT Arena, Estee B2B Just Another Dj.

Hitting the decks with some powerful hard dance Estee and J.A.DJ showed what Welsh Dj’s are all about… getting everyone pumping. The next two hours were stonking Geoff Nugent & Carl Bailey of positive impact and Rory McCart & Matt Phact of O Promotions and Out of Order Events hitting some of hard dance’s darker tuneage, by this time my eye lids would have been closing but the music just kept me going it was so banging. Then came the most interesting set, we were due to have Chris Barret and Jimmy The Saint playing but they couldn’t make it…

We had Dave Scott and Dj Rightsound taking their place, during the set they had some guy (god knows who) MC for them which went down really nice, by four am the only 2 nutters who lasted all night were Robin H and Dan T from the GE-Trance Crew so props to those lads for just going all night.

At the end of the night there was a really good vibe and strong sense of ‘Bed Time!’ a BIG Thanks to all the DJ’s who played downstairs in the Hard Trancelation Room and everyone who turned up to stomp all night. I’ll let Ryki talk about Upstairs as I only popped up for 10 minutes to watch the Organ Donors. I think everyone agrees that it was a amazing night and the only one like it in Weymouth for Years, you every rarely see a world class DJ in Weymouth but to have 20+ in one night is only something you will see at Harder Help Vs Hard Trancelation.

Just picked everything up from harry's and had 2 talk my way out of a parking ticket!... i had to tell the bloke that we were pick up stuff up from a Cancer fund raiser and that if he gave me a ticket that i would have come out of the money raised and that one day it could save his balls... he backed off quick!
