Rob Tissera was banging! shame about the turn out!
I did the promotion work for this event & really worked my butt off!!

I have to firstly thank everyone who did come - alot of you were our friends (jodie & dj Pete warwick here) & it was great to get all the support we did!

Overall everyone seemed to have a great night but i was really dissapointed with the turn out considering how hard we had worked handing out flyers, displaying posters everywhere, etc etc...

I was delighted to meet & get the opportunity to act as Rob Tissera's host for the night -he is such a sound bloke! Felt awful for him having travelled for 5 hours to play to just 100 or so people but it didn't seem to bother him saying he treated it as a party! Him & his friends were SOo lovely!

If anyone reads this and can give me some feedback as to how we can make sure the next nights really jam packed id be delighted to have some help!

thanks, xjodx

Wasn't there, but met Rob again out in Ibiza and he is a top bloke and never fails to impress behind the decks and makes time for everyone.

I will added a couple of mates to this thread as they run the Formula nights in London with massive success! Getting your mates involved and word of mouth is generally the best way though!

Cheers

Flyers etc don't work, it is all word of mouth.

The only way flyers really work are to remind people when the next event is after they had just been or to get someone interested who had already heard of you.

cold flyers and advertising just doesn't really work. Otherwise everyone would just book big dj's and put them in a barn.

It is all about word of mouth..... try using dj's that bring a different crowd.

good luck

Hey speedychic,

I was there at the Rob Tissera night at Klimax, he was fantastic, despite getting the CD player stuck at the beginning of his set (larf)...

It was such a shame that very little people turned up for it. There were something like 90 people in, and a further 10 people left when he arrived! Klimax is a fantastic club for the area, it’s just a shame the locals don’t seem to think the same!

From what I can tell you did a super job of promoting the night, however... I did not see for the life of me anything advertising the night in or around the town. Not even the local taxi drivers knew about the night was on at Klimax. What’s going on there? It would seem the best bet is to promote something like this in the local media, papers, mags, radio. Handing out flyers nowadays is just to old hat and doesn’t really cut it.

hiya - thanks for your comments, i really appreciate some feedback.
Glad that u seemed to have had a good night! Yeah- Rob did av a dodgey moment wiv the cd player - apparently it wasn't his fault, just like any cd jumps on occasions...

He was a great bloke & didn't seem at all phased at the lack of people in the club which was good!

Are u from Dorch then or Weymouth? - The owners said that they were going to cover Dorchester with posters & flyers etc as they live up there, I live in Weymouth & as i learnt on previous nights- the nights seemed popular with Weymouth peeps.

I had posters & flyers everywhere in Weymouth - did u not see any then? All the main shops like Treds, limelight, house of kings, hairdressers etc had posters etc up & all the weymouth taxi offices had posters up too. also posters on boards alond sides of rds etc...

We also had 2 articles in the local paper in the clubbing section on fridays.

Radio did cross my mind but is a little expensive but is def something to think about for the future.

I feel we should try n work on maybe more drink promo's etc as a few people i have spoken too thought drink prices were a bit steep.

Out of interested, how did u hear about the night then? & would u come to future nights?

I think the club does have a good layout & you get to be pretty personal with the DJ, I am a woman on mission to make this work!

Many thanks for giving me your time xx

word of mouth is defo the best tool! you did a pretty good job with the advertising in weymouth altho it should have been done alot earlier.

maybe doin sum face to face promo in the street (like banus do) would help more.

use the web and post on all related forums possible too!

Hey I was there last saturday. I was very impressed by Rob's set actually. I didn't expect to have such a good night. I think alot of the problem is not the events, it's because they're held at klimax, or more commonly known as anti-klimax. It has a really bad reputation for saturday nights, whereas if it was on a thursday the turnout would've been much better.

I dont know what peolpe know about DJ's like Tissera, people seem more excited about more commercial DJ's like judge jules, lisa pin-up etc.

I definately understand your frustration at the turnout tho, it really was a good night and i think people really missed out on an oppertunity to see a bit more than commercial shite. I hav to agree, local radio and papers would definately bring the numbers up.

Well good luck, hopefully the next event will hav a few more ravers there, instead of drunken louts ouit for a fight!!
