Pissed off campers?
Anyone else camping at Sanctuary pissed off about the complete lack of facilities available during the day on Saturday?

I've been to many a festival, and never before have I seen such poor catering facilities and nothing available in terms of rides/activities for campers until the music started. Queues for the burger van were obscene, because there was only the one van open till quite late in the day; they'd run out of coffee by about 10am; and there was nothing to do until the festival site opened except stay in tents or hang out in the one (crowded) bar.

In the past I've seen rides in the campsite running from mid-morning, a selection of food and drink options, a dedicated (and covered) tea tent, and campers allowed into the festival site an hour before music starts to allow them to explore and play on the rides.

The promised outdoor cinema never appeared, the bungee jump wasn't there (the slingshot is a different ride from the one pictured on the festival site), and the 'additional activities' hinted at on the website never turned up.

I'm going to be writing to Slammin Vinyl to complain, but before I did I wanted to see if anyone else felt let down by the organisers in terms of camping facilities/entertainment, or if it was just me and my friends.

Not best pleased with it either to be honest. Took time off work 4 this one unpaid and very dissapointed!!!

Paying £4 for a set time lanyard thing when i could of made up the set times myself!!
(sorry to complain but SV messed this up big time)!!!

Im sorry but i think there is no need to be so negative about this, those who are complaining. the hardcore and fantazia tent were amazing saturday night, with the lights and the sound were perfect, and they did a bloody good job with making the tents look wicked inside. this is as far as i know, the first SV outside event, and considering SV seemed to be known for being a bit poorly organised and bad sound, this event i have nothing to fault at all, i think they did there best, anything they coulda done better would be just small little things that really should matter to a true hardcore raver! i was dreading the rain, but it made my weekend that little bit more special. they had enough fair rides, and they kept going throughout the rain... brill, and the staff were friendly, unlike the ones at tranzmission. i could run on all day about how fantastic this event was, its letters of praise you guys should be sending SV, not complaints.

there was more than that, not much more but there was. and to be fair, i never had to wait more than 30 seconds to use the toilet.

showers with no lights in them!!

was a bit hard to use them wit no lights, the water was freezing cold in the shower i went in, but its a festival... slummin it init!

Had 2 walk like 2 miles to get to the camping

its a long way with all ya stuff, but what else could they do? move a field??! it wouldnt of been possible for everyone to bring cars down near the tents, people woulda been run over in there tents, and cars woulda got stuck in the mud and up the hills, i can see why we had to walk so far.

i only went on the Saturday, but i agree they managed to fuck it up!!

- Would have been nice to provide us with a little bit more shelter
- As for ppl who came in by bus, heard they had to wait for more than 3 hrs cos the coaches were trying to pick them up from the wrong place :S
- I know the weather can't be helped & personally i love the mud but bogged down arenas are dangerous & should have been sorted out

& yeah i met the perve selling drink tickets - but heard some of the ticket sellers were blatently just ripping ppl off!! - Telling them half a ticket was a whole ticket or something - what is the deal with not having money behind the bars anyway????

there was 6 or 7 tents, enough to hold everybody.

bogged down arenas are dangerous & should have been sorted out

your right about that, maybe they should bought in sum hay or cardbord or something for the really bad areas.

what is the deal with not having money behind the bars anyway????

apparently this makes it quicker for bar staff to serve people because they not gotta keep running to the till and getting change n all that hassle... a good idea i think for these big events, it doesnt take 5 mins to get the tokens from the booths, the only downside is that you cant refund any left over tokens but if you dont go made and buy 50 tokens all at once then ya should go far wrong.

They did put hay down in the entrances of the Slinky tent!

exchange for alcohol to take home or to a afterparty ;-)

i think tokens is a rip-off! - Not something I would normally complain about, but think the ppl selling them sould be doing their job properly, trying to rip off punters is just out of order

green dixie you are surely living on another planet. sound and lighting was perfect? gotta be having a laugh. lighting was ok and the tents did look pretty good. apart from the floor. should of got them plastic roll mats on the floor they are dirt cheap.

i think what people really dont realise, is that sv, apparently, have been organising this for TEN YEARS! ive seen people in their events younger than that! (im sure i have, really).
like what mc abstract said, the list is endless. and for the time they have had to organize this that list should be much smaller.

i flew from germany for this. luckily i found out a couple of weeks ago that ill be here for 3 weeks in total, so at least im not going back right now thinking what a waste of a weekend (and money). i wasnt prepared at all for the rain (yeah i can only blame myself i guess), lucky i took my cheap digi cam with me as that now doesnt work.

even if the whole night was free id still feel the same. i dont care about money. all about the performance and effort put in. and im not blaming that on every artist. quite a good few sets last night

i noticed, they didnt put much down n e where else tho we needed more

well it not right to be ripping people off but im sure it wasnt anything to do wit SV, i hope they find out who the fuckers where who where doing that.

there was a lot of worry about tents being robbed, any problems? i did hear that sum drum n bassers walked in to some girls tent and stole her purse and phone, and a couple of chavs stole our massive bottle of water n threw it on to our neighbers tent flatening it, the bastards! apparently sum blokes where going round saturday night knocking the tents over and jumping on them? madness!

i gotta agree wit you there, tranzmission springs to mind! ten years is a long time, did they even know what they were planning for then lol, seems a bit of a long time.

well its a shame but ul always get some ppl acting like twats & robbing tents :(

Actually I thought all u campers had been pretty lucky - they had put the camping area at the bottom of a hill, which isn't the cleverest of places to situate it with all the flooding thats been going on

maybe we were but i think they have done a lot of festivals there, if it got that bad there then im sure they wouldnt let people camp there. it was a lovely place to camp, so pretty with the hills and trees to look at, felt safe aswell with the lighting and stewards walking around and the security people watching out from a platform. was such a nice atmosphere in the camp too, people wake all night so if ya ever got bored or couldnt sleep ya could go have a chat or summit =]

thats a slightly naive view - tip for u, if u ever go to Glastonbury don't try camping at the bottom of any hills

It's not slammins fault if a load of twats come to the festival is it?

It is their fault that beer was a rip off, set times were fucked, sound was shit, .....
