Pissed off campers?
Anyone else camping at Sanctuary pissed off about the complete lack of facilities available during the day on Saturday?

I've been to many a festival, and never before have I seen such poor catering facilities and nothing available in terms of rides/activities for campers until the music started. Queues for the burger van were obscene, because there was only the one van open till quite late in the day; they'd run out of coffee by about 10am; and there was nothing to do until the festival site opened except stay in tents or hang out in the one (crowded) bar.

In the past I've seen rides in the campsite running from mid-morning, a selection of food and drink options, a dedicated (and covered) tea tent, and campers allowed into the festival site an hour before music starts to allow them to explore and play on the rides.

The promised outdoor cinema never appeared, the bungee jump wasn't there (the slingshot is a different ride from the one pictured on the festival site), and the 'additional activities' hinted at on the website never turned up.

I'm going to be writing to Slammin Vinyl to complain, but before I did I wanted to see if anyone else felt let down by the organisers in terms of camping facilities/entertainment, or if it was just me and my friends.

I agree with you about outside cinema, was dissapointed as was looking forward 2 watching a film!!

But appart from that i had an ace time!!! And i think the whole point too camping is to amuse yourselves, think on the positive side..... at least u savd some money by not spending money on the additional amusements!!!

I'm agree with you and I bet we're not alone.

After waiting an hour to get in at 2pm, only to find nothing going on! Wiating until 5 at the earliest before any music started was a joke. People we spoke to felt the same. Then to find out that some of the headline acts in the Fantazia tent weren't on until 2.15am and then only for 15 minutes really took the piss. We'd made a 360 mile round trip for this event and forked out for accomodation for two nights for this?

Once it got going 5 hours later we had a cool time, but left at 11 as were both knackered from hanging around in the wet for so long. I'm contacting Slammin' as well to see why the headline acts (in this case N-Joi) were stuck on at stupid-o-clock to do a set that lasts quarter of an hour! It's like driving to a cinema on the otherside of the country and watching 15mins your favourite film. Bit of a con.

Let me know how you get on.

Slammin always do there best to sort any problems out... but one thing they cnt change is the weather, Perhapes the reason why certain ' facilities' and other advertised activities were not availble to you was because of the bad weather.. i thought the atmosphere was wicked on sat night evreyone seemed to be having real fun dancing around in the mud! (ur there why not make the most ov it)
It must be hard for the promoters to organise such a big event with such large amounts of people attending (camping or not) without having some problems and i thought they did a really good job :-) x

The only quarm I have is I feel a bit ripped off bout the supposed VIP thing, the VIP camping was a joke, was in the worst part of the site, I ended up pitching up in the standard area cos it was closer to the event site and a bit more going on in terms of ppl about n stuff. The viewing platforms? could hardly find them but no real point cos the outdoor stage wasn't on. Would be gd to see maybe a bit more of a more substantial freebie with the VIP in future? Meybe I'm bein greedy but just a sugestion

All in all I made do with what was goin on, even though I only left my tent for 4ish hours the entire weekend cos I couldn't bare dragging my wheelchair about the mud but thats my fault but I still had a phat time sesh'in in my tent wi many, many ppl lol

Prob do next yr and other festivals, not a bad job really SV, security were firm n friendly n helpfull when needed, sound systems in the DnB tent & Hardcore were pretty damn gd

On a final thought, 3 wristbands? Whats that about eh?

Excuse me while I go detox...

I only went for the saturday, bit upset bout the weather and the mud, but after a while i was covered in mud, sitting in mud, even trying to sell mud to innocent passerbys. The saturday night hardcore line up was sensational (although styles set started in the dark with only around 30 people in the tent after being an hour late with revised set times ), slammin cannot be blamed for the weather but i do think they could have planned abit better to avoid another Tranzmission for example 1)have the festival in august! and everything else was down to the weather except for some pervert guy in the token booth!, the only other thing were the amount of FRAUDSTERS going around!!!!! a shame really the amount of fakes! but overall i thought the saturday was awesome. although i wont be going again unless its hot and sunny! :)
