DJ lineup for the Top Floor

JIM HB

Jim has been DJing since the age of 16, when like many, he learnt how to mix in the bedroom
on some shoddy belt drives. He eventually came out of the bedroom and stared playing
out and about in various bars and clubs in the wolverhampton area. He has also played further
afield including Oxford University and Abersoch in Wales - home of the Wakestock Festival.

Jim furthered his passion for music over the last few years by getting into remixing and boasts an
extensive catalogue of top quality mashups and remixes. He is currently in the process of getting into
music production and we feel it won’t be long before his productions are rockin the dance floor at
Jackin’ Off.

Jim has also recently been made resident with the Little Miss Moneypennys and Jelly Baby brands
which he was pleased to add to his DJ roster. Keep an eye on the relevant MySpace profiles
for his dates for Jackin’ Off as well as Little Miss Moneypennys and Jellybaby

ANT HARTLEBURY

Ant first got onto DJing on his 16th birthday where he received his first set of decks. A few years
later Ant was confident in his skills and started on internet radio to get a bit of audience reaction
to his mixes. In 2004 however Ant had to stop his net radio exploits as he moved to Liverpool
to study. While in uni Ant met liked mindedpeople and got sets at Liverpool SU and Edwards in
Liverpool city centre. When starting his new job back in wolverhampton he was hosting
Wolverhamptons only dedicated soulful house radio show on 107fm. This lead to Ant gaining
more bookings at local joints also further afield in stoke where he played at Keele University
and also was named monthly Resident at Fluid for their "Karma Nights" events playign alongsid
names such as Timmy Vegas (soul central) and Aaron Ross (Soul heaven,Defected)

After meeting Jim HB through a mutual love of jackin’ house music in early 2006, they co-founded
‘Jackin’ Off” and launched the brand in Birmingham in October 2006. Since then, Ant has gone on
to play guest sets for many well respected promoters such as Touch in Nottingham.

Ant is now firmly concentrating on enhancing the brand and his production work.

EL FUNK

“Love Technique founder & Jackin’ Off resident El’ Funk has been working the decks in many respected clubs and bars in the Midlands area, Ibiza and afar for the last 3 years.”

He has varied tastes in house music such as Soulful, Tech, Deep, Jackin, Funky, Progressive and Minimal. He keeps an open mind, which enables jim to please any dance floor.

His own venture "Love Technique" (with Ant Hartlebury) launched on the 5th April 2007 and has so far seen some of the best local talents such as Jim HB, Andy Johnson, Euge, Paul Griff, Richie Barthez, Dave Cross and Teddy Powell on Sax. Due to re-launch in room 2 of the all new Picture House nightclub in Stourbridge on Thursday 16th August.

DEAN ROBERTS

Dean Roberts is a house/tech DJ from his home town, Sunny Birmingham. Starting at the young age of 15 Dean worked his way up the DJ ladder playing a number of different genres ranging from funky house to bouncy techno. In his early/funky years he became a prominent figure on the Birmingham Gay scene, playing at every major club (inc Kudos, Nightingale, Subway etc) & pride events. Last year Dean gained international exposure playing to over 3000 people at Gran Caneria pride along side Jupiter Ace and Loverfreaks.

As well as this he won a number of awards for bars/nights that he ran and played at on the scene. Since then Dean has moved on to BIGGER and better things; 2006 saw the launch of his production career , which proved to be a massive success as his 1st 2 releases were signed and released word wide. After this, things have only got better for Dean and you can regularly see him play along side some of the UKs biggest house DJ’s including: Jo Mills, Micky Slim, D.Ramirez, Filthy Rich, Funkagenda, Will Bailey, Paul Thomas to name a few. Dean is probably one of the only few DJ’s that doesn’t take the whole DJing scene to seriously, complete nutter behind the dex and exactly the same afterwards, extremely approachable and loves to dance like a bitch to other DJ’s before/after his sets... Dean is continually going from strength to strength this year his productions are set to be massive, watch this space for more info... “Dean has shows great passion and enthusiasm in his sets, he never fails to impress me at every gig. Also he has progressed massively over the past year especially with his productions; His new stuff is baddd...” Chad Lewis – Groove Digital Slide 1

REZ

Rez has been DJ'in since 1999, his music tastes changing dramatically throughout that period. Initially starting out as a vinyl junkie mixing trance, and moving into the realms of hard house in the early 2000's, Rez played at various clubs across the West Midlands including Canal Club and Bar 2 Sixty. Getting pissed off with the lack of good music and the commercial vibe of the scene his style changed to driving tech trance and techno. Techno began to take over but his style and personality matured and as a need arose for good house DJ's in the Wolves area he found himself drifting into the more mellow sounding breaks and electro scene to play nights such as Raw & Twisted. As the electro scene has grown, the need for something new yet again defined his style and in early 2006 he made the move to underground house, tech house, minimal and techno. With various other influences fluctuating his sets, Rez can now adapt to all atmospheres, from dirty & pumpin to dark, minimal and twisted. The constant search for new musical genres and the desire to be original and push the scene will continue to define his musical tastes for years to come. In 2007 Rez has been continually active in driving forward his passion for the underground house scene. He is now joint promoter of the Gateway and Religion nights alongside Skratch and Stuart M and continues to work hard in developing a forward thinking club culture within the West Midlands. Throughout the remainder of 2007 Rez and the Religion/Gateway nights will be collaborating with like minded people and events across the Midlands. Watch this space!!!!!!!

SKRATCH

Skratch was born back in 1982 and began his life living in a forest just outside willenhall, he was brought up by a rare breed of humans which had pig heads and crocodile tails called the crocapigs they all lived happily for the next 300 years but one day skratch whilst strolling through the willenhall forest came across a man wearing a bag, the man said to skratch "why dont you start playin breakbeat forget about the crocapigs there no gud for you!" skratch wandered back home with the bag of vinyl and set about making some turntables to play them on it was going really well until one of the crocapigs saw what was happening the crocapig said " NoooOOOOO! u must not play the evil breakbeat music it is forbiden" but skratch was hooked on the beats and bass he skimmed one of the vinyl at the crocapig and cut his pig head off, he was chaced from the forest by the crocapigs so he decide to form his own crew called The Gateway Crew and has been playin breakbeat and promoting the Gateway night ever since!
