ABOUT LIGHT HOUSE
Light House aims to increase the enjoyment and understanding of technologically - based media, in particular film, video, photography and new media and to emphasise their importance to the cultural, social and economic life of Wolverhampton, the West Midlands and further afield.
CINEMA
Light House houses two screens with a programme of contemporary and retrospective screenings plus special screenings and festivals such as the annual Deaf/Sign Language Film and TV Festival and bfm festival. Screens are also available for hire with a film chosen to suit your occasion whether it is for educational, charity, fundraising or private screenings
EXHIBITIONS
Light House Gallery is dedicated to photography and new media and concentrates on showcasing and supporting the practice of documentary photography, empowering communities, preserving places and exploring particular aspects of life. With a programme of talks, workshops, presentations and symposia to compliment the exhibitions.
TRAINING
Light House runs a diverse range of part time media courses, portfolio surgeries and professional development programmes. Bespoke training tailored to meet individual needs is also available.
EVENTS
Light House has a diverse programme of media related events, talks, conferences and festivals. Including amongst others regular Screen Forums, Out of Hours networking events, the annual FLIP Festival, Exhibition Private Views and Film Quizzes.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY
From screenings and talks at the centre to collaborative projects and Animation Workshops delivered in schools a diverse programme of educational activities are available.
VIDEO & MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION
Kinetic Pictures is the commercial production arm of Light House producing high quality promotional, training and corporate videos. Kinetic can also duplicate your completed video onto a variety of formats including DVD.
ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT
Light House can offer a wide range of support and development for individuals and businesses working in the Creative Industries including business advice, networking opportunities, access to resources and showcasing opportunities. We also hold a number of media events showcasing new filmmakers work and forums for film makers and animators.
MEDIA PROJECTS
Light House has developed a number of media projects and is actively involved in a number of collaborative projects.
These include projects such as PLOT, a project to nurture and support the creative industries and BE-ME (Black and Ethnic Minority Experience) an archive and educational project.
VENUE & FACILITIES HIRE
Whatever the size of your group we offer venue hire with excellent service at competitive rates. Discounts available for charities and community groups. Production facilities and equipment are also available for hire including digital video cameras, lights,tripods, linear, non-linear edit suites and multimedia facilities.
MEDIA REFERENCE LIBRARY
With an extensive and rare range of film, TV and media related books, magazines and periodicals. Open to the public.
LOCK WORKS CAFE BAR
Light House's Café/Bar Meeting Place Lock Works is a Non-Smoking and family friendly environment. With food, drinks, a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff it is the ideal place to have a chat after a screening or meet up with friends before an event. The facility to screen and exhibit the work of local filmmakers and artists also provides a more informal setting for Light House events.
