Holy p00p the rezzies rock!
It’s been a while since my last Freak. Without delving into the why’s and wherefores (kittens, uni work, etc) but I kind of feel I took it for granted until last night.
Lottie’s last minute cancellation threatened to put a cloud over the event but the team decided to push ahead with a resident’s night for the first time in many moons hoping that the draw of the party would prove enough to tempt people.
It worked…

Incorporating the booth on the second step allowed a ridiculous-sized screen on the stage so Odd Squid’s visuals were blown up to frightening proportions! When I arrived there were around 60 people scattered between the bar and dancefloor, feet tapping in all corners to Harvey’s jacked-up funky techno and electro house offerings. Mark took over shortly after and Central began to fill up rapidly; maybe the sub-human bass was a calling to the party? Who cares, it went right off from that point onward.

Freak’s top boy showed us why a night without a headline act worked so well; the sound we all go for is theirs. Call it by whatever name you can, but trying to pigeon-hole this music is near impossible when it covers such a wide range. Funky, jackin’ bangin’, rockin’, (in fact, almost any adjective with the ‘g’ removed works for me) all applied at some point as we blurred the lines between house, techno and electro.

Stel was apparently “f**cking shit hot mate!” and much I would like to verify this, I had an embarrassing moment trying to get back in after going for a pizza. Next time I will remember to bring something in with me.

Looks like Freak is going from strength to strength, and if last night proved nothing else then it was that we know how to party and don’t need any A-list headline acts with the talent available on the roster! That said, the Bank Holiday special is looming large and the headliner for that is yet to be announced.
Intrigued? Well, www.freakonline.co.uk has all you need to know and more.

Much love xx

PS Gemma B and my bad self are starting a sh*t-dancing tour at any nights that will accommodate. ;op

last night totally rocked with all the residents kicking out some awsome tunes such as
motor/black powder
depeche mode/darkest star
underworld/dark & long
there was a great turnout with an excellent vibe all night & the only downside was the bouncers turning the music off at the end of the night
