Have you ever played in North Yorkshire before?
No this is really my first time in North Yorkshire.
Where did the name Blutonium come from?
13 years ago, i had some trouble with some labels to get my money, so i decided to create my own label. During one evening, i was together with some chilly friends, we created that word BLUTONIUM.
What would you say is the biggest size crowd that you have played to before?
It was in dessert in San Diego, called the Narnia Fesival, about 80.000.
Any tips you can offer to up and coming producers?
Be true to yourself and show your stuff, when you have a really well done track in your hands, then the succes is faster then you can guess! And use Abelton Live!
From the places you have played is there anywhere you recommend?
Of course, Black Sensation and Qlubtempo in Amsterdam, Transmission in Sydney, Soundbar in Chicago, The Truth in Johannesburg, and many places more. Good crowd there, really good!
Have you always been in the music industry or did you have another career before?
I was a graphic designer before, and also really well known as a Macintosh freak in South Germany, so i done a lot of cool work for a huge cosmetic company called Yves Rocher all over Europe, but the real career i got later then in the music business, when i startet in 1996 with my label and releasing my own stuff on that!
What other styles of music are you in to apart from hardstyle?
At the moment, i really follow our own Blutonium Hardstyle flow. I love Electro House and some comercial Pop stuff, but this is then a really private thing!
Who are your favourite producers at the moment?
Since ever Quincy Jones and Timberland
Some people associate jumpstyle with hardstyle but some hardstyle fans hate jumpstyle. What are your views on jumpstyle?
There are some places on earth, you can play a combination of both, but you are right, this are two totally different styles! I love hardstyle with cool phaaat drums and uplifting melodies, to get strong goose pimpels!
Are there any places in the world where you would like to play?
This is a difficult question, because since 13 years i am travelling round the globe playing erverywhere to promote my trademark, and i saw really everything and i played already at so many places, so maybe you tell me where i should go to play!
Do you prefer the earlier or newer sounds of hardstyle?
Both are cool, but of course the NUSTYLE is scheduled for today!
What is the hardstyle scene in Germany like at the moment?
Is doing well, the North is totally infected, but for the south we need a bit more time! The scene is growing and growing!
What would you say your favourite venue is?
Olympic Sports Centre in Sydney, Kryal Castle in Melbourne and The Ajax Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam!
Cd or vinyl?
Funny question ..... Now CD. I never thought that i will change, but i had to! No more vinyls available!
Have you any new productions coming out which you would like to tell people about?
Year, there is my new solo single “Blutonium Boy - Hardstyle Superstar”, a new one of Maly “This Is Our Life” and last but not least “Brian M vs McBunn – Into Hell”
What are your top 5 tracks at this current time?
DJ Neo – Survivor, Blutonium Boy – Hardstyle Superstar, Technoboy – Oh My God, Maly - This Is Our Life, Picotto – Blutonium Bootleg
Is there any one who has influenced you along the way in your music career?
Yes man, Rolf Ritter was my big influence, when i started as a resident DJ in a 2500 people club in 1988. He was just a resident, but an amazing voice on the microphon, a cool set during the night from week to week, so everything i learnd from him, to play music with the stomach. And you see, i am still in the game, better then ever, after more then 20 years!
What would you say is the most successful production that you have made?
This one at the moment – Hardstyle Superstar, but Echoes, No Gravity, Ocean Of Emotion, Make It Loud, Hardstyle Instructor and Dreams in My Fantasy were also cool during that time. Difficult to say, because my taste is always on time and focused to the future.
Is there any other artists that you particular enjoy working with?
DJ Neo, he is my partner, and i play a lot with him together as BLUTONIUM BOYS, so we have always so much fun during traveling, in the hotel, and later on on stage!
Outdoor or indoor events?
Both are cool, but outdoor events in spain are fantastic!
Did you start out as a DJ or producer?
As a DJ......... Only that works for a long career!
Have you now conquered all your ambitions or have you any other goals your working towards?
All is fine, since 6 years i run a casino here in Salzburg too, so i don’t know when i want to stop my music career, but believe me, all is fine, and i only want to see my daughter Linda Sophie growing. She goes now to school since the 2nd of September this year! Important is to be health, and to have good and real friends around you, in the business and in private time!
Any last comments you would like to add before we finish?
Can’t wait to come to your place, to blow the roof off. Hope you have a cool Microphon, 2 CDJ’s 1000 and a Pioneer 800 Mixer for me, so i have 100% power for the audience! All the best to everybody out there – Blutonium Boy This this a link to the event - HARDER TIMEZ - HARDSTYLE SPECIAL PART II "THE GUY FAWKES THEME DRESS PARTY"
