Bad Boy Bill

To call Bad Boy Bill accomplished would be a bit of an understatement. Voted America’s Favorite DJ (BPM Magazine). Winner of URB’s Massy Poll. Co-founder of Beatport.com, the leader in electronic dance music downloads. That might be enough success for some, but not for this world-renowned DJ. With over two decades of DJing under his belt, Bad Boy Bill is ready to release his first full-length artist album.

“I think people are going to be surprised because its different than what they probably expect from me,” says Bill. “And I like that.”

Out July 28, Bad Boy Bill The Album (Nettwerk) packs a double punch: the impressive collaborators we anticipate from an industry vet (Duran Duran’s John Taylor; Alyssa Palmer; JJ Flores; Steve Smooth; Alex Peace), combined with unexpected self-aware lyrics and unique production that seamlessly weaves Bill’s electronic edge into rock, hip hop, and rap.

While most of the tracks on The Album have been closely guarded secrets, Bill has previewed lead single “Falling Anthem” extensively, to rave reviews. Number 9 on the Billboard Dance Chart and steadily climbing, the track features vocals by the talented producer and singer Alyssa Palmer, and has already been remixed by Herve, Harry Choo Choo Romero, and Sylvane.

Now an international house icon, Bad Boy Bill got his start as a teenager, DJing at local parties, entering DJ battles, and throwing his own events. He won the first DJ battle he entered. As a senior in high school, Bill started his own record label (International House Records) and signed tracks from DJ Pierre, Mr. Lee, and others. Between 1995 and 2001, Bill released five volumes of the Bangin’ The Box series on his own label, Mix Connection Multimedia. It became one of the best selling series in dance music history. During that time, Bill also founded Moody Recordings, which released the international hit “Get Get Down” by Paul Johnson.

In 2003, Bill shook things up with Behind the Decks, a full length Mix CD + Mix DVD containing visuals from him live show. Bill took it to another level in 2006 with his follow up project, Behind the Decks Live, which captured the live show that has made Bill a favorite in a full length DVD and Mix CD.

This summer, Bill will surprise longtime fans and attract droves of new ones with his first full-length artist album, introduced by the first single, “Falling Anthem.” The mid-tempo dance track is propelled by a sparse and steady driving beat, but the real focus is on the gorgeous, plaintive vocals from Alyssa Palmer.

Featured on “Do What U Like” as well, Palmer helps set the tone for an upbeat, positive album. “Do What U Like” has all the makings of an instant club hit: funky and futuristic with slick production, racing rhythm, and robotic, commanding vocals.

With “Fast Life” (written on his cell phone via text at 6am in an airport) Bill takes advantage of a perk of recording your own music: lyrical catharsis. “I definitely think it is a fast life we DJs live,” says Bill. “It’s kind of never ending. It’s always another city and club every week. I have been travelling this way for over 12 years, and when I look back, its like ‘Wow, it flew by.’ But being able to do what you love is a gift, when you combine them all, that’s my life and I love it.”

Alex Peace slings staccato lyrics like “nonstop fast life / different city every night / no sleep late night” over jagged and fuzzed electro beats that start and skip at random intervals.

Exercising artistic license, Bill taps into his love for and knowledge of an array of musical genres, from rock n’ roll (“Got That Feeling”) to rap (“Headlock,” “Honey”). He goes back to where it all started with a cover of Herbie Hancock’s “Rockit” (“because of the scratching, it really got me into the art of DJing,” Bill says), and gives new life to a ballad by speeding up one of Palmer’s stunning songs (“If I Tell You”).

From start to finish, Bad Boy Bill The Album is everything you would hope for from a genre staple looking to shake things up: adventurous, experimental, fresh, and yet authentic with Bill’s signature electronic edge layered into every track. America’s Favorite DJ may just be America’s New Favorite Artist.

BassHunter

Jonas Erik Altberg was born on 22 December 1984 in Halmstad, Sweden. He lived with his parents and younger brother near Tylösand, a famous Swedish beach. He started to produce music under the stage name “Basshunter” in 1999 with the computer program Fruity Loops, and released his first albums, “The Old Shit” and “The Bassmachine”, through his own homepage in 1999 and 2004 respectively. His interest in music became greater as he progressed.

In April 2006, he signed his first contract with Extensive Music/Warner Music after signing with Extensive Music as management, releasing his first single, “Boten Anna”. In Scandinavia, the song became a hit instantly and was the first ever Swedish language song to reach number one on numerous charts around the world. His major label debut album, LOL <(^^,)> would chart all over Europe and launch him into the forefront of dance music.

When Basshunter reached 50,000 friends on MySpace, he celebrated by releasing “Beer in the Bar – MySpace Edit” and chatting via webcam with fans causing several crashes in the network he was in.

In the end of 2007, Altberg released a re-recording of “Boten Anna”, titled “Now You’re Gone”, the video also featured Aylar Lie and was the first of four videos. The song subsequently charted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, and stayed there for 5 weeks! At this time “Basshunter” was at several occasion the most sought term on social communities (MySpace, Facebook etc) on a global scale. His YouTube videos had hundreds of millions views!

Throughout 2007 and 2008, Basshunter was working on a new album, titled “Now You’re Gone: The Album”, after the leading single it was released on 14 July 2008. Next song to be released was “All I Ever Wanted”, an English re-recording of “Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA”, in the vein of “Now You’re Gone”. And the story in the video continued with Aylar Lie. The Album went directly no:1 in UK and have sold gold and platinum in several countries around the world.

The third single released in the UK was “Angel in the Night”. The video was a great success and in this one Basshunter finally got his girl.

The fourth single, “I Miss You” was released on 15 December 2008 alongside the fifth single “Jingle Bells (Bass)”. The video was shot in Norway and concluded the Basshunter – Aylar Lie love story.

After the success in UK, he have toped the charts in US, several weeks at No.1 on ITunes and all the way to South Africa and New Zeeland with both singles and Album hitting the top chart position for several months!!!!

30th of September 2009, Basshunter released his new album Bass Generation of which hit singles as “Why” and “Every Morning” are included. The musicvideo to Every Morning also includes the Basshunter – Aylar Lie, Love story.

Basshunter was also the first Swedish artist that has been the host for a 72 hour tweet-for-ticket-party, where the fans could be able to stream his new album, and in exchange post a link on his or her facebook/twitter page. Basshunter will also set out on the Bass Generation tour in October, 2009 in support on the album.

Basshunter is seen as the biggest commercial dance artist in the world right now!

Christopher Lawrence

Voted the #4 DJ in the World by DJ Magazine’s prestigious ‘Top 100’ poll for 2006, Christopher Lawrence is recognized worldwide as one of the World's top DJs and producers. Dubbed "A Superstar DJ" by the US’s URB and “One Of The Most Popular DJs On The Global Circuit” by DJ Magazine, Christopher Lawrence is one of the biggest, most respected and popular names in dance music today. Once an outsider in a world dominated by European and UK DJs, Christopher has risen to the top of the international dance music heap. He is now considered one of the key global players and America’s leading dance music export, playing his tough techno trance sets main stage at the world’s biggest festivals and superclubs.
Over the past few years, Christopher has received numerous awards and accolades. Winner of “Best American DJ” at the IDMA’s, Christopher is also a recent recipient of the "Best DJ" at both the Dancestar US Awards and Los Angeles Music Awards. Christopher has additionally been nominated in Dancestar UK Awards, DJ Awards, International Trance Awards, Global DJ Mix Awards and IDMA’s to name a few. Christopher has also graced the covers of countless magazines, newspapers and publications worldwide.
Described as the "Biggest DJ in the USA” by the BBC’s Radio 1, Christopher clocks up over a quarter of a million frequent flyer miles a year and a list of international events too long to mention. In the past year alone, Christopher has toured China, United Kingdom, Mexico, Ibiza, Australia, Taiwan, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Japan, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Colombia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Greece, Russia, El Salvador, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Romania, Slovenia, Panama, Indonesia, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Thailand, Guatemala, and Canada. One need look no further than the top international clubs and dance festivals to find Christopher’s name.
Meanwhile, back in the US, Christopher continues to be one of the countries most sought after DJs, headlining high profile events from San Francisco’s Love Fest and Sony’s ‘Playstation 2 Tour’ to Arnold Schwazzeneger’s ‘Terminator III’ party. He has played the famed Coachella festival more than any other DJ, and was also the only US DJ invited to headline all three of the inaugural Ministry Of Sound, Cream and Gatecrasher tours of America.
Described as "A Highly Respected Producer" by Mixmag, Christopher won a preliminary Grammy nomination in 2002. With a discography of groundbreaking tracks, Christopher’s notable releases ‘Attention’, ‘Scorcher’, ‘Shredder’, 'Renegade', 'Rush Hour', 'Cruise Control', ‘October’s Child’ and bootleg remixes such as ‘Batman Begins’ have been hammered by DJs from Paul van Dyk and Tiesto to Paul Oakenfold.
This past several years have been Christopher’s biggest to date on both the DJ and production front, following the release of two artist albums. His debut album ‘All Or Nothing’ and the follow up, ‘Un-Hooked’, a retrospective of Christopher’s work for Hook Recordings, both topped the iTunes dance charts and met with widespread chart and critical acclaim from the worlds toughest critics from Rolling Stone to the Washington Post. Christopher’s music has soundtracked everything from TV shows such as MTV’s ‘Real World’, to Matchbox Car DVDs to computer games including ‘Need for Speed 2’ – bringing an entirely new audience to Christopher.

Always pushing the limits, Christopher gained attention with the release of his new website, which was nominated in the “Best Music Website” category of both the SXSW and the Webby Awards, which are considered the Academy Awards of web design. Designed by the groundbreaking and award winning 2Advanced, Christopher’s website became a benchmark in the DJ. Check it out at christopherlawrence.com
In the late nineties, Christopher established himself as one of the US's biggest selling DJs selling over a quarter of a million mix CDs following a string of record breaking releases including 'Rise', 'Temptation', ‘United States of Trance’ and 'Around The World'. Christopher's most recent mix ‘Subculture’ was described by Jive Magazine as “The Best Trance Album of the Year!", reiterating the fact that Christopher continues to be one of the World's most evolving and respected DJs.
After lengthy delays, Christopher’s label Pharmacy Electronic Music will be officially launched in late 2007.
On the big screen, Christopher has appeared in ‘Midsummernight's Rave', as well the documentaries ‘Liquid Vinyl’, 'Intellect', ‘Put The Needle On The Record’, ‘World Party On Tour’ and ‘American Massive’ to name a few. A music video for Christopher’s single, Freefall, shot at California’s Electric Daisy Carnival has also been featured on television around the world.
In the world of international dance culture, there are DJs who are leaders and those who are followers. Christopher Lawrence is a true leader.

John O'Callaghan

Voted #24 in the 2009 DJ Mag Top 100 Poll

Overview: It took John O'Callaghan just a few short years to outrun the 'next big thing' tag and switch over onto the A-list fast track. A masterful spinner, his high-octane trance mix coupled with a highly-refined precision mixing style has seen him surge up through the DJ ranks. Spinning his first Radio 1 Essential Mix in the summer of 2008, the gifted 27 year old was one of only 4 trance DJs to do so during the year. Immediately following that he made his debut in DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs rundown, arriving at No.60. In the 2009 chart he became one of the year's highest climbers, leaping 36 places into the world's top 25 and cementing his place as Ireland's foremost DJ & producer. In his home country he has picked up the Best Producer and Best DJ trophies at the Irish Dance Music Awards for 2 consecutive years; decisively conquered the notoriously competitive testing ground of Ibiza and was the first Irishman to play Trance Energy. In 2010 he has entered the inner circle of electronic dance superstardom.

Production: Since making his first moves into music production 6 years ago, O'Callaghan's notched-up over 35 productions and released them on some of the most respected labels in the industry. Early club-thrillers like 'The Chamber', 'Exactly' & 'Space & Time' became mainstays of DJs sets and along the way prompted Paul van Dyk to comment that he is "one of the most exciting producers in the world today".. Soon after, John produced 'Big Sky'... Off the back of an extended 4-month-long club & radio hammering from the big 5, it was voted the No.1 trance tune of 2007 on Armin's ASOT show. From there 'Big Sky' took on a life of its own and has now reached the status of a modern trance classic. John also produces through a number of pseudonyms, including Joint Operations Centre and J.O.C. Under the latter he displays his affinity of techno-fringed productions, supported by a who's who of techno and progressive jocks.

'Never Fade Away' & 'Subculture': In the latter half of 2009 John again reached into the heartland of electronic dance with both his second artist album and the first edition of his new compilation series. Containing the hit singles 'Find Yourself', 'Never Fade Away' (which respectively featured Sarah Howells & Lo-Fi Sugar on vocals), his Giuseppe Ottaviani collaboration 'Our Dimension' and the increasingly popular, 'Out of Nowhere' broadened John's appeal yet further still. Conquering the hearts & minds of both fans and press, it scaled the highest reaches of global dance charts, and burned through high rotation radio playlists worldwide. 'Subculture' quickly followed - an innovative hybrid artist/mix album that premiered freshly produced material including 'Cramped', 'Backup' & 'Striker'. Tracks that went on to be wholeheartedly hammered by deeper-minded DJs including Sander van Doorn & Marco V.

DJ: John caught his first DJing break playing on national Irish radio station 2FM's 'Sessions Tour'. From the DJ booth he has gone on to throw trance-fire onto the floors of some of the world's highest-profile clubs, arenas and festivals. Counted amongst them are Planet Love & Lush, WMC in Miami, Rain in Las Vegas and Creamfields. He is also a regular fixture in Ibiza, roadblocking Cream @ Amnesia throughout the course of summer 2009 (and already booked to the same in '10), as well as his yearly trip to Eden for Judgement Sundays. O'Callaghan has also expanded his fan-bases into Eastern Europe and North & South America (playing Sunrise Festival, San Francisco's LovEvolution, LA's Monster Massive, and his Brazil/Paraguay/Argentina tour inside the last year). In March of 2009 John played the main-stage at Trance Energy – now universally regarded as the pinnacle apex of the trance calendar and in 2010 he has also taken one of the much-prized residency positions on Godskitchen's 2010 Global Gathering World Tour.

The Subculture Radio Show: For the last three years John has presented his take on the trance scene via his Subculture show on the industry-leading station DI.FM. Subculture presents a crystal-clear monthly snapshot of John's in and out of club sound, exploring the outer reaches of electronic music. The show goes out at 5pm UK time on the 2nd Monday of the month, noon US EST and 6pm CET.

The Subculture Label: After the radio show and compilation, in February 2010John took the next evolutionary step and launched Subculture: the label. In cooperation with industry giant Armada, the imprint quickly started to showcase John and other likeminded musicians' tracks, kicking off with his own floor-pounding 'Striker'.

John O'Callaghan Remixes: Although his studio career carries more of an original production bias, John has lent his musical skill to many exceptional remixes. In 2005 his debut came in the form of the hugely-received rewiring of fellow countrymen Agnelli & Nelson's 'Shiver'. From there he went on to rework (amongst others) John Askew's 'How Can I Put This', Ronski Speed's 'The Space We Are' & Filo & Peri's 'Anthem'. So taken was Armin by John's 2008 remix of 'If You Should Go' that he took the rare step of asking O'Callaghan to rework a second track from his 'Imagine' album. John's remix of The Doppler Effect's 'Beauty Hides in the Deep' last year became a cult hit within the trance fraternity and 2009 has seen him go on to remix material from a number of A-list trance heavyweights, as well as a multitude of highly sought after reworks and bootlegs for JOC sets only. He is widely regarded as one of the most in-demand remixers in electronic dance music today.

John "00" Fleming

John’s career started some 18 years ago when his headmaster asked that he play an under 18s night for the school. After just one appearance, John was asked to become a resident at the now legendary Sterns in his hometown of Worthing. He was aged just 15. Fleming honored his residency throughout the 80s and during this period, shared the decks with some of dance-music’s most treasured DJs, including Carl Cox, Fabio and Grooverider at the club’s ‘Interdance’ night. As acid house and the rave scene reached new heights, John stepped forward as one of the leaders of the movement, DJing at Fantazia, Raindance and Ibiza as far back as 1987.

In 1990 John was diagnosed with lung cancer, aged 20. His escalating reputation was to suffer a blow as Fleming was forced to turn his back on the dance-music community in order to concentrate on recovering. After two years in hospital undergoing chemotherapy, John was in remission and moved to Florida in an attempt to regain his health. It was here that Fleming made his return to the decks with regular dates at Miami’s Cameo Theatre and guest spots up and down the East Coast to Canada. A year later John returned to the UK with a fresh perspective. It is this life-threatening experience that has given him the lust for life and determination to regain his place at the peak of his profession.

Arriving back on British shores in 1992, John filled a 7 year residency at the Zap Club in Brighton together with Dave Clarke, Tall Paul and Eric Powell. Soon the word spread and John found himself in a unique position spreading his trademark sound at corporate brands such as Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher and Gods Kitchen, as well as the underground ‘Goa Trance’ scene playing alongside Astral Projection, Juno reactor and Floorplay.
He has since rebuilt a solid reputation as one of dance-music’s innovators, pushing his genre and leading where many others follow. Few people can claim to have been at the pinnacle of their profession for a sustained period of time, having enjoyed so much success and still be leading the way forward. John 00 Fleming, one of the dance music industries most revered personalities, is amongst a small band of people who can say they were responsible for igniting the spark of the scene we all know and love today.
Still today Fleming crosses all boundaries and finds himself playing at all major corporate brands across the World as well as some of the biggest festivals in the Psy Trance scene, a nod back to his Goa Trance roots. John is the only DJ in the World to achieve this respect in two very different scenes.
?
Complementing his assured reputation as a DJ, John has displayed a great flair for production. The massive success of two artist singles; ‘Alpha 5’ and ‘Lost In Emotion’, were accompanied by a third release in 2000 with ‘Free’, which enjoyed an entry in the UK Top 40. In 2002, John continued to develop his production work with the release of ‘Belfast Trance’; a rework of Simple Minds’ ‘Belfast Child’ (with Jim Kerr’s blessing) and SupaKane (Fleming/Healey) ‘The theme from SupaKane’, both on Virgin Recordings. Today we see working in the studio with four of the biggest players of the Trance World, Christopher Lawrence, M.I.K.E., Astral Projection and Astrix!

During his career, Fleming has completed numerous remix projects in a broad spectrum of genres. Among his successes are Erasure’s ‘Sometimes’, Gloria Estefan’s ‘When Will This Moment End’, Mansun’s ‘Tax Loss’ and ‘Wide Open Space’ and Junior Vasquez’ ‘House Of Joy’. Fleming was honored to be asked to remix two of the greatest dance tracks of all time, ‘Café del Mar’ and L.S.G. ‘Netherworld’.

The next step for Fleming was Joof Recordings; an underground trance label set up with Russell Coultart (Transient Records/Floorplay) in 1998.

“I come across great music all the time but not everyone has the funds to put records out. Joof Recordings enables me to lend my support and give talented artists the full release that their tracks deserve.”

Acting as head of A&R, John has signed a number of innovative artists including Digital Blonde and Finland’s, Miika Kuisma. Among JOOF’s releases are AR52 ‘Timegate’ and Aquasource ‘Waking up the sun’, John 00 Fleming and M.I.K.E ‘Dame Blanche’ and a track from Fleming and the USA’s number 1 Trance DJ Christopher Lawrence, ‘Attention’. Further success was achieved with Reysan Khan’s ‘Shi-du’ which was championed by Judge Jules, Seb Fontaine and Ferry Corsten. In 2005, has seen the labels profile rock to an all new level. Having Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto and Armin van Burren as their biggest fans can’t be a bad thing!!

Fleming has also mastered a number of highly revered mix albums. In 1998, John displayed his playful nature by releasing the fittingly titled, ‘Licensed To Thrill’ on Automatic Records. He followed this in May 2000 with ‘For Your Ears Only’ on React Music. John also compiled Volumes 13 & 14 of the notorious ‘Reactivate’ series (React Music) and headed ‘The Real Ibiza’ (Telstar), ‘Sunny Side Up’ (Passion Music) and ‘The Best Trance Anthems’ …. Ever’ (Virgin). More recently John had massive success with the excellent ‘Progressive Euphoria’ (Telstar) that sold a staggering 60,000 copies within the first two weeks of release and his ‘White Label Euphoria’ compilation which has since become the second biggest selling album in the Euphoria series.
John's major release this year was White Label Republic - the latest installation in his ground-breaking White Label series.
M8 magazine raved about the compilation, describing it as "definitely worth some of your well earned". Upfront magazine called White Label Republic a "top quality purchase which will be hard to beat", and Mixmag saluted John, saying "Good work OO!". There’s not many DJ’s on this planet that can boast they have sold over one million albums!!!

John’s radio show, Global Trance Grooves is becoming the most popular radio show on The Ministry of Sound radio network. His last show beat all previous records by having the most amount of hits! Fleming has also turned his hand to journalism, writing a monthly column for M8, titled ‘From Brighton With Love’ and reviews for technical features in iDJ magazine. The little time that John has left to spare has been filled with guest mixes for Radio 1, Galaxy and Kiss FM.

The last few months have seen no let-up in John 00 Fleming's hectic touring schedule. He played alongside his friends and heroes Infected Mushroom and Astrix at The Gathering festival in Japan, and to a 20,000-strong crowd at the China's first ever government-sponsored festival. There were parties across the USA and Australia and the globe-trotting DJ recently returned from a mind-blowing festival in San Paulo, Brazil.
And John is about to get busier than ever. In addition to the global gigging, he's started work on his biggest project to date - the first-ever artist album of his 20-year career. The greatly anticipated release will be unveiled next spring.
The as-yet-untitled project - which will offer up six spanking new singles - has already taken John to recording studios in New York, LA, Miami, Finland and Israel. Shakespeare's Sister star Marcella Detroit has been in the studio laying down vocals, and there are collaborations with Astrix, Christopher Lawrence and Thomas Penton to look forward to.

In October, John celebrated his sixth year in the DJ Magazine Top 100 poll - a reminder that while many 'fad' DJs come and go, his rock-solid fanbase makes him one of the few names capable of continuously filling clubs. He was also voted the 16th best DJ in the world on the massive Trance Addict site - an accolade that John was particularly honored by.
