D.A.V.E.
the Drummer - (Stay Up
Forever/Hydraulix/Apex) - UK

to the world stage. Over the last three years he's taken his unique
DJ sound to countries such as: Brazil, Japan, Australia, Venezuela,
America, and Canada to name but a few.
D.A.V.E.'s roots are in
the controversial London acid techno movement. His productions over
the last six years have appeared on labels such as Smitten, Bionic

There have also been many releases on labels

appeared in the German charts). Remixing duties have led to work for
Hardfloor and chart bands The Orb, Secret Knowledge and Jesus Jones.
But fast forward to the present day. His diverse taste in
music and shift to a more widely accepted production style is
reflected in the establishment of his own label Hydraulix, receiving
phenomenal support from a wide cross section of DJ's that have
included everyone from Carl Cox to Judge Jules.
Predictably
the U.K. national press has been quick to acknowledge him. Interviews
and guest reviews have appeared in all major publications such as
Mixmag. DJ Magazine. and Wax magazine.
Dave the Drummer is a
rare breed of musician who possesses the ability to cross techno with
many other different forms of music ultimately driving the
genre forward in the 21st century.
D.A.V.E. the Drummer has

MIKE
DEARBORN - Chicago, Illinois
(www.mikedearborn.com
- Majesty/Majik Gruuv – tiny Management)
Mike's
interest in music took a turn when he began listening to a radio
station called WBMX (which is no longer in existence). On that
station, he would listen to programs like the Hot Lunch Mixes as well
as the Friday and Saturday night mix shows. On these shows, you could
here the likes of Farley ‘JackMaster’ Funk, Steve ‘Silk’
Hurley, and Frankie Knuckles. This is when Mike's interest in DJ'ing
was sparked.
It was not long after that Mike became interested
in producing. He and his brother would experiment with a Roland
TR-505 and a Casio sampler. Mike began producing on a more serious
note in 1988. In mid 1989, he released his first 12’inch with a
schoolmate named George titled “Make the Music” and
“Uninhibited Desire” on the legendary Chicago
Trax/Housetime label. The exuberance in releasing his first record
soon turned into frustration from dealing with a ‘shady’
label.
In January of 1991, Mike teamed up with George again to
release a three track EP. This EP was released on Warehouse/Muzique
Records. Again the excitement led to disappointment.
Having
released two records and seeing no return, Mike stop producing and
DJ'ing and concentrated on obtaining a Degree in Communications-Media
Studies from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. In March of
1992, while back in Chicago for the weekend, Mike visited a friend to
listen to some records. While listening, he came across a record on
the DJAX UP BEATS label by Terrace a.k.a. Stefan Robbers of the Acid
Junkies. Impressed to find a label that was releasing that style of
music, he prepared a demo and sent it to DJAX. Soon after, he
received a call from Saskia Slegers a.k.a. Miss DJAX. He signed with
DJAX and began a 4-year relationship with the label.
After
signing with DJAX, Mike began to DJ throughout Europe. His first DJ
gig in Europe was at rave in Paris, France for a crowd of about 7000
people. Other highlights include touring in Australia and Brazil,
DJ'ing at Germany's biggest rave MAYDAY 7 and performing live at
MAYDAY 8. This was Mike's first live performance in Europe. It was
also broadcast live on Viva, Germany's MTV equivalent and voted #8 in
the top 10 international live performances of the year by FrontPage
magazine, Germany's leading dance magazine at the time.
Other
noteworthy DJ gigs include Ministry of Sound in London, The Rex in
Paris, Tresor Club in Berlin and MelkWeg in Holland. Mike has also
played in other countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Belgium,
Italy, Norway, Spain and Portugal. In addition, Mike has played some
of North America's best clubs like The Limelight, Sound Factory and
Twilo in New York, Shelter and Karma in Chicago and Industry in
Toronto as well as many underground parties throughout the
world.
Mike was also seen in the critically acclaimed
documentary film “Modulations”.
Mike has remixed
artists such as Gary Numan, Hardfloor, Joey Beltram, Robert Armani
and Steve Stoll. Mike has headlined events worldwide with DJ
heavyweights such as Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Daft Punk, Dave Clark and
Westbam.
Mike graduated from Northern Illinois University with
a Communications-Media Studies degree in December of 1995. He
returned to the Chicago area in the summer of 1996. Soon after, he
parted ways with DJAX Records and started two labels, Majesty
Recordings and Majik Gruuv Records.
While Mike will be
spending more time pursuing goals not related to music, he will
continue to produce and DJ.

Brian
Ffar - (Siteholder Records,
UnCut) CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
He has been DJing for
almost a decade now, and over the years his sound has always had an
affinity for the techier side of things. While current techno has
been polarized by European influence, He has been trying to push all
of the freshest, most innovative music available – and the
response has been extremely enthusiastic. His goal, when He started
DJing, was to evolve as an artist that works creatively with respect
to programming. Light-speed innovations in music technology
have brought all kinds of music closer to what can be considered
“mainstream”, which has been a blessing as well as a
challenge. He is still a huge fan of digging through the crates
for vinyl, and finding obscure records that nobody else is playing at
the moment. You won’t find many “new this week”
tracklistings or mixes with only old obscure stuff on them. He
loves music, no matter when it was made, and trys to mix old and new
as he enjoy the challenge it brings to programming sets.
Throughout his career, he has been able to meld my love for house,
techno, and electro into an experience that has caught the eyes and
ears of many contemporary DJ’s, clubgoers, and listeners
worldwide.
Within the last few years, Brian has had the good
fortune of traveling as an international DJ, and has met some
amazing, like-minded people along the way. Through these
travels, Brian's been both the opening DJ as well as the headliner,
and appreciate the subtleties of both positions intensely.
Production work has taken a serious step into the forefront of his
musical life. Over the past couple of years, Brian has secured
record deals with some domestic as well as foreign labels such as
Gourmet Recordings and Tic Tac Toe.
He is also co-owner of
Siteholder Records, the brainchild of Chicago natives Billy
Dalesandro, Daniel Mnookin, and himself. Residing in the city
that gave house music its name, Siteholder strives to combine the
various elements of modern techno with the jackin’ rhythms that
put their hometown on the electronic music map. Siteholder has
very quickly established itself as one of the most respected US
techno labels in the world. As Sven Vath put it so eloquently,
“Siteholder is putting Chicago back on the map”.
The label has garnered some serious exposure, getting continuous
support from techno giants Adam Beyer and Sven Vath.

Dj
Inertia - (RepublikRecords.com)
Something
like a musical android, long time Phoenix resident Ryan Jeffs is
constantly bridging the gap between human and machine, laying down
syncopated atmospheres of computer generated music without
sacrificing the heart and soul that people long for on the dance
floor.
For nearly 2 decades Inertia has been at the forefront
of electronic music, both as a DJ and Producer.
As a DJ he has
played in just about every major market in the US, headlining at
legendary clubs like Simon’s in Gainesville, Utopia in Las
Vegas, and Last Supper Club in Seattle. At the local level Inertia
has been resident DJ for some of the longest lasting and best
electronic nights in Arizona, including groundbreaking clubs like
Freedom and Insomnia, where he played along-side of some of the
world’s most in demand DJ’s.
As a Producer his
releases have been featured on shows like “The Essential
Selection” on Radio-1 in the UK, and have found regular spots
in the playlists of DJ’s such as Paul Oakenfold, Danny Howells,
Sasha, Deep Dish, John Digweed, and others. Remixing (both requested
and not) artists such as Elton John, Sinead O’Connor, Markus
Schulz, and The Who.
A typical night with Inertia behind the
decks might include a mishmash of electronic styles. Whether it’s
uplifting or dark and brooding, he is going to find the sweet spot in
the audience, and ensure they leave with sweat soaked clothes and
smiles on their faces. Inertia holds true to the belief that the best
records in the world don’t come from a specific genre, nor do
they hold to a specific format. They are defined by the reactions
they breed on the dance floor.

importantly VERY melodic and energetic with a strong nod to the dance
floor. The focus of the Substation project is on the LIVE element of
Electronic Dance Music incorporating an array of synthesizers, drum
machines and sequencer to engage the audience like a DJ, but with the
hands-on maneuverability of remixing and/or restructuring of original
compositions in real-time for a maximum charismatic musical
effect.

Steve
Edwards- (FWD Entertainment)
Steve Edwards has been pioneering the sounds of tech
house and minimal techno music throughout the Phoenix valley for some
time now. His musical tastes vary between tech house, electro house,
progressive, and minimalist sounds, while his sets take an eclectic
journey through all of the darker shades of house music. His style is
both technical and experimental, and what he plays for a crowd always
proves to be unique and infectious.
Music has always been the
forefront of Steve Edwards' life. Steve spent countless hours as a
kid listening to dusty LPs of Michael Jackson and the Monkees. He
made the change from being a listening bystander to an active
participant in music when his dad gave him a bass guitar for his
ninth birthday. For the next several years, Steve played in a few
jazz, funk and punk bands and started building his appreciation for
obscure music. His early musical influences include a variety of
artists, from jazz bassist Victor Wooten to punk rockers the
Descendants, and everything in between. The styles that were most
prevalent were jazz, new wave, punk rock, and industrial music. You
can see much of this imprinted in what Steve Edwards plays and
produces today.
Steve's first introduction to electronic music
came in Houston in 1991, when he visited a friend who owned DJ
equipment. Amazed by the grinding techno styles of the early 90s, he
wanted to try for himself. He began with a mish-mash of music
including everything from dancehall to drum and bass to hardcore.
Shortly thereafter, he moved to Colorado and his musical tastes were
refined to progressive house music. He quickly earned a residency at
The Underground in Colorado Springs, which afforded him the
opportunity to start exploring the abstruse sounds of tech house.
Steve then moved to Phoenix and brought his musical tastes with him.
Many of these sounds were new to the valley's EDM community, and they
welcomed this new dance music with open arms.
Steve Edwards
currently plays at many clubs and electronic music events in the
Phoenix valley, spreading his love for his unique style of music to
the masses. When he's not playing for a crowd full of techno heads,
he's in the studio recording mixes for his podcast or searching for
new tracks for his next mix. His work has been featured on Frisky
Radio (www.friskyradio.com),
Proton Radio (www.protonradio.com),
and Freakin' Radio (www.freakin.org),
drawing scores of listeners worldwide. He has released tracks on
Queep Organic House, Biohazard Digital, Xela Digital, Bit Records
Mexico, and Binge Records and has recently played at Spundae and
Funxtion Fridays in Hollywood.

Simon
Apex - (NU energy -
myspace.com)
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Simon Apex has been at
the forefront of the United States, UK Hardcore
movement
for over a decade. He was first introduced to the intoxicating
sound of Hardcore in 1991 at the ripe old age of sixteen through
bootleg tapes supplied by his friends at school. Hooked on the
high-octane break beats Simon started collecting tape packs and
then
just after his 18th birthday the legendary Rhythm
Station opened just
miles from his Bracknell home in the
south of England where he became
an immediate regular.

RABBIT Vs. MAD HATTER - (EMA,
AMS, UMF) FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA
When
he was only 15, he found the world of Trance and fell in love for
the first time. This is where the Rabbit was conceived, but not
yet
born. How did he find Trance one might ask? KoRn, one
of his favorite
bands of the time, remixed one of their
songs, Clown. The beats were
catchy, and they never left
his head. At the age of 17 he was forced to
move to
Georgia; this is where the rave began in his life. The name
Rabbit was born at a rave in Georgia, where he was King. He had a
style
of dancing that no one could describe except as a
crazy rabbit and with
a Caffeine visor on, a pacifier in
his mouth, and two glow sticks
pushed up in his visor like
ears, he had the look as well. Here is
where the name
Rabbit became synonymous with the words Trance or Rave.
His
passion for the raves and his passion for the beats pushed him even
farther. A love for listening to the music led to wanting to make
the
music. At the age of 22 Rabbit found himself living in
South Florida
where he met DJ Christopher Allen. DJ
Christopher Allen taught Rabbit
the basics of beat matching
and allowed him to practice on his
turntables. This was the
start of the career name DJ RABBIT. Rabbit
finally
purchased his own set of turntables only a year later at the
age of 23. He has been spinning with his partner in crime, the
infamous
DJ MadHatter, and they form Rabbit vs. Mad Hatter.
He received his
first gig at club X-It in Hollywood,
Florida at the age of 24 and
distroyed the dance floor with
the Mad hatter and there high energy
records. Rabbits
career in the world of DJs has begun its explosion,
watch
out.

Producers-Remixers-DJ's in Arizona. For the past 15 years, CL
has
witnessed and led the Arizona progressive music
movement. By the late
1980's, CL was opening up for two of
the hottest nightclubs in Phoenix-
Planet Earth and Utopia.
His talent was soon recognized and he quickly
landed a
residency at one of the leading nightspots in Arizona- Club
411.
CL was a resident at the influential Insomnia

Arizona. He has served up his luscious beats
live at clubs such as
Utopia in Las Vegas, Visions in

CL has opened for top
name artists B.T., Christopher Lawrence, Donald
Glaude, and

consistently lays down brilliant and clean sets that exceed the
standard dance floor craze.
CL also carries a heavy
studio schedule as a Producer and Remixer.
Labels such as
Atlantic, Epic, Jive, Maverick, Stress, Virgin, and
Limbo
(UK) seek his talents to reengineer their tracks on a regular
basis. Collaborating with DJ Markus Schulz, "Lost Without
You" by
Jaynne Hanna, was remixed and re-released
because of its appearance on
Sasha & Digweed's
"Northern Exposure-Expeditions" CD. Original song
productions include his highly acclaimed "Galea-Omni",
"Centrode-Luminous", and new Hook Records recording
"Barracuda".
Publications such as MIXER Magazine
and XLR8R have endorsed his genius
for "Fireball"
and "Teleport". When CL isn't in the studio crafting
solid music, he can be found working on a nationally syndicated
mixshow
at Hot Mix Radio Network.
The ever
changing path of progressive music will leave some
unrecognized. It is his talent, innovation, and sincere passion
for
music that will continue to propel CL McSpadden to the
forefront of the
global pack.

Spear
- (London West Records)
Spinning since March 2006 and playing out since
September 2006, I started out by playing open decks and house
parties; the scene is what I live for at the moment. My first
official booking was on April 7th at SHAZAAM. This will was a special
birthday set for me so it was some crazy stuff. Genre wise, I mainly
spin Hardstyle. Hardstyle is right in between Hardcore and Hard
Trance, with screaming synths, multiple breaks and "kick-your-ass"
drums. Hardstyle is my love; it calms myself down and keeps me sane
in the insanity of the world I live in today. However, Hardstyle
isn't my only genre, I also spin hardtrance, UK Hardhouse & Club
House. One day, I WILL be on stage at Decibel, and I will tag with DJ
Chi-Gu Kom at a Q-Dance event. This is my goal as a DJ and no one
will stop me.

Ophidian
/ Conrad Hoyer - Enzyme, Enzyme X, Industrial
Strength, Protocast, Meta 4 - Holland
At 5
years old, Conrad Hoyer started piano lessons, sparking a carreer
with many twists and turns through different styles of music. Using
keyboards and cassette recorders Conrad started recording his first
songs and mixes in 1993, 11 years old at the time. By 1995 hardcore
music had become very infuential for the Dutch youth and he started
using computer software to write hardcore songs. With the artists of
the Ruffneck label as main lead he worked on perfecting his
technique, specialising in fast, breakbeat-orriented juno-sound
hardcore. In 1998 DJ Ruffneck was convinced of Conrad's talent after
recieving a 4 track cd-demo, and asked him if he would like to join
his labels Gangsta and Supreme Intelligence. And thus at 16 years old
Conrad became the youngest artist to join the crew.
The period
'98-'00 can be seen as a learning period in which Conrad released a
few records as Trypticon and a few more tracks as Ophidian, but was
still struggling to be consistent and to find an own place within the
hardcore scene.
Things changed in 2001. In this year Conrad
joined Enzyme Records, started building his own studio and started
his study of Music Technology at the Utrecht School of Arts. He
decided to drop the Trypticon-project and concentrate on producing as
Ophidian, focussing on slower hardcore, with more techno and
electronic music influences. Enzyme started a sub-label called Enzyme
X on which more experimental hardcore could be released, which came
as a blessing because it provided exactly the space that Conrad
needed to define himself and his style. From this moment on
progression was fast, and he released quite a number of tracks
including his first solo-album,
Ophidian - Blackbox, in 2003.
This album was groundbreaking at the time, was never repressed and
has now become a cult legend.
His biggest break untill now
came in 2004 when he remixed one of the bonus-tracks of the Blackbox
cd, Butterfly, for the new Enzyme VIP label. The track was originally
written as a piano piece, but was released as a hardcore track, and
in the remix Conrad decided to bring both elements together again.
Butterfly VIP was a massive hit, was played at so many parties around
the world, and was featured on so many compilation cd's that for
anyone remotely into hardcore this track was impossible to miss.
With this succes in the pocket, Conrad started to work on his
next, two-part cd album called Betrayed by Daylight. Two vinyl
records, the Enzyme 18 X and Y, were released in the winter of
'04/'05, as well as the extra 18 Z containing some of the more
experimental tracks of the album. Even though this double cd was of a
different style than the Blackbox, more diverse and polished and less
raw and technoid, it was received very well and spawned a few well
known tracks of its own, of which Angel and The Middle Children have
been played the most.
In 2005 Conrad teamed up with Patrick
van Kerckhoven to start two new labels, Protocast for hard techno,
and Meta4 for experimental hardcore and industrial with techno and
IDM flavours. Since then both labels have grown steadily, becoming
quite renown in their respective scenes, and attracting fans and
artists from all over the world.
His latest move is teaming up
with long-time friend Tijs Ham a.k.a. Tapage. They made a record for
Bionic Recording including 2005 floorfiller 'The Míne' and
another one for Meta0 in 2006, a new Meta4 sub-label focussing on
breakcore and IDM. With these last projects Conrad's mission seems
clear: build up the different labels and try to top himself in each
respective style, be it mainstream hardcore, dark, experimental
hardcore, hard techno, breakcore or IDM.
