The security was really rude but sometimes that's to be expected from them. I was more disgusted by the wait and bar staff. While I've generally always found an incompetence to Mainstreet's staff, last night, it was as if they were overly bitter and jaded ravers or the kid in highschool who's parents forced 'em to go to the dance so they just stand on the sidelines with arms crossed and a sneer on their face, running to tell the hall monitor when they see something the slightest bit risky.

With the money the promoters dropped to rent out the venue, the least they could do is put on a smile and not look as if they have shit stuck under their noses. Sure, it's halloween and you're stuck at work, probably not going to make much in tips but it's your fucking job, smile, even if it's a fake one. [facetious]You just gotta love the staff that makes you feel so warm and welcome[/facetious]

But otherwise, it was an enjoyable night and a good save. The set up for the stages was cool and it was awesome that one was set up in the smokers 'patio'. The sound and music was killer and a good turn-out of the usual Tucson scene kept the vibe goin'. Can't say anything about the after-party since I was lame and just bailed out to go home.

Well said!

I know i had a blast playing, i liked seeing so many familiar faces that showed up. Was a treat for me; it feels like its been ages since i really play in tucson anymore.

Thanks jared and shane for givin your best to just have someplace for our scene to go for halloween.

Mainstreet, as a venue, never again IMO.

You guys need to wake up and realize there are no useable venues in Tucson !!!!!!

Heres some pointers

KURT dude ... really ...you were out in the parking lot drinkin a 40 w people under age . Thats puttin the venue @ risk . Then you got preeety drunk and asked me for flyers to pass out inside ...which i appreciate ...but i told you not to pass um out inside cuz staff doesnt want it . In your drunkeness you must have not herd me .

The security was uptight because
1 They had a fight there the night b4 w a hip hop concert and somene pulled a gun. Cops came and yelled @um for having booze mixed in th crowd ... thats why saturday booze was allowed only up top .

2 . Thats the 1st time electronic music has gone un there they didnt know what to expect

3 . This is good ...they received a few calls from confidential people // haters saying that i was shady and i wouldnt pay them etc etc . Im sure that had the staff edgy but they never once mentioned it to me . Without ever being asked for $ I paid them in full directly after i finished my set. As soon as i paid them the owner and manager REALLY brightened up towards me ...told me about the calls they got ...thanked me and said that we have an "open door" anytime we want to do something there . They also appologized for booting out minors @ 12 and will NOT be doing this next time .

4. Bar staff works for tips ...ravers for the mostpart are cheap when it comes to tips creating naturally unhappy barstaff.

5. Imagine having a bunch of strange people in your home for the 1st time . You would be up tight . I have seen 1st hand many time how much damage a rave or ravers can do to a venue . Having worked w many venue owners over the past while I can tell you that all venue owners are very leery of ravers due to the general lack of respect they seem to have for venues .

You all need to try and consider these points please and decide if you want a bi weekly or monthly to occur @ mainstreet . We would be happy to provide it for you as long as we make enough $ off the door to pay for the event . Shane and I had no intention of trying to make $ on this and we made enough to tip out a few djs n go gos and pay for things and walked away happy .

Appologies for them kicking out the under 16 @ 12 . This wont happen again after speaking w them . The threats on dsi and calls to the venue from mr " think about it " didnt help things much .

We had a fun time doing this event for you guys . If you all want to work together and support things here I wil be more than happy to keep pushing it . I dont want $ from things here . I just want to see tucson dance and be a helping part of a scene that I love .

Thanks all for a great night saturday ! Sorry for a few bumps in it but realize that breaking a new venue in is never easy

Yeah, that's understandable, I love ravers, but they can be intimidating to a bunch of people who don't understand them and know what they're about. I also think the Tucson kids are a lot more respectful than other rave scenes I've encountered and you have to know us as a whole to respect us better.
I think a bi-weekly or monthly would be over kill. Maybe a bi-monthly would be nice that way there is lots of time to plan for things to go right and change up the dj's/ styles of music and have themes. You know, just enough to keep the scene alive and to have something to look forward to, but not enough to over do it and flood the scene. It was great to see all the old Tucson kids dancing and singing and gettin down together. ILY bitches!!!!

Judge not less ye be judged.
Wait- you can't be judged cause you're a faceless, nameless bitch hidding behind a screne.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off so harsh. And I'm glad they loosened up after they were payed them and are welcoming us back. As someone who works in the service industry I just expect a little more. A smile can go a long ways. Especially when I'm tipping a rude bartender for a bottle of water. Work ethic is fading fast in society and it just bothers me.

I'm a raver, I commit blasphemy all time. :) But at least i don't hide it. i know i'm not perfect, hence I try my best not to judge without allowing myself to be judged.
