Fucking bullshit.

I fucking hate politicians that keep down the people who actually do the hands on work. The people who actually know the molecules, and know the real positive and negative aspects of those substance.

Government is fucking backwards.

He makes so many good points in his report too. Even just with how the press and media completely botch the facts. Though I found it interesting how while possession and distribution are prohibited and have harsh penalties, there's no actual punishment for taking drugs. Gotta love the UK.

You don't think it would be the same here? Shit, the US put out "reefer madness" to show how crazy pot makes you and implied it will instantly lead to hard drug use. It’s the gateway drug… Fact of the matter is most people would rather feel moral believing a lie, than feel contradicted believing the truth.

The article that i read was actually very unbiased reporting on the entire issue.

It really sumed up what his view on the entire drug war is, rather than what would save his career. Its sad that there was finally a public office official that had the best intentions for the public at heart rather than his contributions to getting re-elected or lining his own pocket.

for anyone following who doesnt know what he proposed, he basically wants to rank all substances based on how detrimental to your health they are. In this scenario, MDMA and LSD were ranked in the teens, with alcohol coming in at the 5th spot. Very good read regardless.

Hmmmm... Well, this is a serious issue, and it doesn't at all surprise me. I think I received a petititon via Law Enforcement Against Prohibition to protest a bill that would ban any discussion of legalization in Congress. I don't think the drug war will ever end. It makes too many people in power very rich, and it holds up our economy against the damage that governments repeatedly do (although it's not going to be able to save us for much longer).

No one wants to acknowledge that your body is your property, and that you have the right to ingest whatever you damn well please, be it anti-freeze (which is legal), heroin, nicotine, coffee, etc. And, a potential does NOT equal an actual - using a drug does not automatically mean that you're going to become an addict or a criminal, or that you're going to hurt anyone. Beyond that, it doesn't matter what arguments the advocates for drug criminalization use - it's a violation of individual and constitutional rights.

That said, it's just a bit funny (in this case) that the British term for "fired" is "sacked."
