Madison Park: Interview, Live appearance @ Red Chair July 21.

Building on a most solid response to their Billboard hits, "More Than This" and "Ocean Drive", Madison Park return with their first hit single from their upcoming full-length, In The Stars. This single features DeAnna's powerfully moving vocals and club rocking house mixes by chart topper Lenny B. There's no doubt this haunting and gripping track will move your body and soul. It features mixes for many tastes: the club ready extended mix, the beautifully haunting piano and strings version, the bangin' deep dub, an 80's flavored deep electro, a rock mix for Top 40, and the dance radio-ready edit. Also includes the "I'm Listening" video.

In The Stars was Co-produced by Lenny B (Gwen Stefani, Natasha Beddingfield) and features collaborations with Paul T and De-Phazz protégés Sunday People. The album’s first single “I’m Listening” is a constant on the Billboard Dance chart and has been picked up by multiple video services for both pop and dance/club video. A stroll through the rest of In The Stars will reveal a sound that perfectly tows the line between electronic and pop music. In fact, this is a marriage of both worlds. Take for example tracks like “Other Way Around,” “Love Solution” and the title track. These gorgeous string arrangements, delicate vocals and gentle beats conjure up memories of Zero 7, Bent and One Dove. On the other side of the spectrum, tracks like “One Day,” Right Around Here,” and “Dancing Away All My Time” head straight for the dance floor jugular. Husband and wife team James and DeAnna Cool are the creative force behind Madison Park and BasicLUX Records. We caught up with DeAnna via phone interview.

.......Tell us about the process, and how you make records?

We write in a number of ways... sometimes I present a melody to
James and he writes a backing track to my song and other times,
James has an idea for a groove that he presents to me and I'll write
a melody and lyrics to that; structuring it into a song. And then
there are times we sit down and write on piano or hash out initial
ideas on acoustic guitar. Good times...Techincally speaking we take full advantage of our personal studio for programming, recording
(vocals and live instruments) and mixing in Nuendo.

.....How did you meet?

James was working at a studio and he was looking for a
singer/songwriter and I had just returned from a year in
New York and was looking for a producer/collaborator when
a mutual friend hooked us up. Upon our first encounter we
discovered how nearly identical our musical influences/tastes
were and immediately began writing together. We had three
songs written and ready to mix in the first week.

......Best gig you have ever played?

Delano Hotel during Winter Music Conference '06. Ben Watt of Buzzin'
Fly/Everything but the Girl was in the crowd and he is James's idol. He
won't admit this but he gasped when he saw him.
I just smiled because I knew how excited he was that he was there.

.......Who are your influences?

We both admire and have been influenced by Roxy Music, Ryuichi Sakomoto,
Everything but the Girl, Kate Bush, Madonna and Sade.

.......Ibiza or Miami?

Ibiza -- although we have some amazing friends in Miami!
