IVAN SMAGGHE + FRANCESCA LOMBARDO + KIWI AT THE NEST

    Fri 25 April at 09:00pm until Sat 26 April 2014 at 04:00am

Originally a composer, it’s said that the now French electro pioneer Ivan Smagghe became a DJ, producer and label owner almost by chance since the early ‘90s and we’re thankful he did. With credentials to impress all, Smagghe’s mixing talents have been called upon by FABRICLIVE, Resident Advisor and more recently Boiler Room along with his occasional partner-in-crime Andrew Weatherall. We’re honoured to be in the presence of the supreme purveyor of spacey electro and disco house on this night. Supporting will be fast-rising Crosstown Rebels talent Francesca Lombardo, her driving and hypnotic sets garnering huge acclaim in tech and deep house circles. Although she’s only had a handful of releases including her debut ‘Changes’ and more recently ‘What To Do’, their outstanding quality has cemented her as one of this year’s hottest rising stars. That DJ Mag named Kiwi as one of their ‘Ones to watch for 2014’ is testament to his success with innovative releases on ‘Kitsune’ and ‘Deep Shit’ as well as his gripping sets. He’s currently got a residency on at The Nest so trust us when we say you won’t want to miss out on this night!

MONIKA KRUSE + RACHEL LYN + BENJAMIN CAIN

    Sun 04 May at 09:00pm until Mon 05 May 2014 at 04:00am

Spanning over twenty years, Monika Kruse’s DJ career started out when she was studying in Munich. Influenced by funk, hip hop and house back then, she was noticed for her precision and intuition at choosing a record at the right time – which in turn got her national bookings outside of Munich. Her breakthrough release “Latin Lovers” in 2003 shot her up the charts: #1 in Netherlands and Top 20 in Spain. A regular at Berghain/Panorama Bar and Watergate, she also heads her own label and a charity against racism and xenophobia, named “No Historical Backspin”. Supporting act Rachel Lyn’s focus is firmly set on deep, dark and sensual techno. Having been flagged as “one to watch” by Pulse Radio last year, Rachel also has a regular show on London’s Hoxton FM. https://www.facebook.com/events/259419164226072/?fref=ts http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?575476

MAK & PASTEMAN + MICKEY PEARCE + MAISON SKY + JAKIL ALBUM LAUNCH (LIVE)

    Fri 16 May at 09:00pm until Sat 17 May 2014 at 04:00am

Sharing a penchant for the UK underground music scene, Mak & Pasteman first started out their studio adventures in 2011. With their collective interests in House, Techno & Jungle, they have had a breakthrough release on Redlight’s Lobster Boy label and were heavily supported by Loefah, Jackmaster & Oneman. Having an EP on Breach’s Naked Naked label and being a permanent fixture on Rinse FM, we are looking forward to them delivering to us a sound that’s uncompromising and true to their roots. Mickey Pearce first entered the music scene as Shortstuff in 2009. Under that moniker, he has released records on Ramp Recordings and Punch Drunk, before starting his own label and signing early material from Bok Bok and Dark Sky. Having recently released a beat tape under Loefah’s SWAMP81 label, it has been a long time coming for Mickey to helm the decks at The Nest. Only 22, the production duo from West London has been signed to an industry heavyweight, Rinse, after a promising debut EP and an exciting first six months. Maison Sky later remixed DJ Zinc’s new single, ‘Only For Tonight’, and shortly after, Shadow Child’s new track, ‘Friday’. Be sure to check them out, you will be in for a treat. http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?577864 https://www.facebook.com/events/432196566926103/?ref=ts&fref=ts

    BODHI + APPLEBOTTOM

    Fri 23 May at 09:00pm until Sat 24 May 2014 at 04:00am

Hailing from Cardiff, Wales, the deep house duo is spearheading a bustling Welsh dance music scene. Previously released on up-and-coming house/bass label Push & Run, they make eloquent and crafted house music that fulfills the dancefloor’s expectations, yet sounding fresh with a little twist. Supporting will be Applebottom, an extremely young and talented Bristolian with a penchant for classic, house and disco tracks. Since breaking out less than a year ago, he has been selling out club shows nationwide, and has also been added to many festival lineups over the summer. One of the stars of the most exciting labels of 2013 - MadTech and Eton Messy, be sure to catch him at The Nest to see what he has in store. https://www.facebook.com/events/257974181050979/?fref=ts http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?577858
